One hundred million percent agree Katty.    Except for one little thing... I don't blame the little girls, I blame the ghastly, fame hungry mommies, trying to live their lives through their daughters.  Pushy stage mommies and pageant mommies are the worst kind IMO.

Stonks, I havent heard any more on this either hun...

I follow the Casey Anthony case stonks. The trial begins on May 9th.
Atm they`re holding hearings re which witnesses will be allowed to give evidence, which of her recorded jailhouse conversations will be allowed and lots of other stuff like that.
It`s most people`s opinion (including her brother) that her defence team are pretty incompetent.
They had the original Judge (Judge Strickland) removed for commenting on an internet blog about the case. It was an innocent comment, something like "interesting blog"
He was a more lenient Judge than the one who replaced him. (Judge Belvin Perry) He`s known to be one of the toughest Judges in California. Fair but strict.  J.Strickland was seemingly against the death penalty so if she was found guilty she would have got life without parole. Judge Perry has allowed the death penalty as an option.
They`ve been missing deadlines for certain things required by the court that they have to give to the State prosecutors. They`ve been fined for contempt of court by J. Perry for this.
There`s also been a complaint put forward about her main lawyer ( Jose Baez) falsifying a witness statement and telling lies.
It`s a known fact he doesn`t have the experience to handle a case of this magnitude.
She`s made a big mistake by choosing that defence team.

Only the Judge knows where the trial will be held. It`s being kept a secret until the last minute because the case is so huge in America, it would cause chaos for that town/city before it starts -with the media moving in and hotels overflowing etc.

The trial is being aired live on the internet. If you or anyone are interested, I could find the links where you can watch it.

Hadn't heard anything about this case til I read this thread then I googled it  Such a shame that even the granny changed her story tryin to protect her daughter.  Looks clear enough that the mother killed the wee one but if by some miracle it turned out not to be her then still shame on her for not reporting her baby missing  Some people shouldn't be allowed to have kids.

Stonks and anyone whose interested - the trial starts today!

I`ve been following this for nearly 3 years - all the pre-trial hearings and jury selections, it`s been a marathon but it`s finally starting!

BST 2pm - 10pm with recesses for lunch etc. Monday - Saturday (half day Sat.)

It`s expected to last 6-8 weeks.

You can watch it live online. This is the best site

http://live.cnn.com/

This is quite good too...

http://www.clickorlando.com/index.html

It would obviously be impossible to watch all day, everyday, so if you want to catch up...

there`s a tubey member (Sierra) who uploads the trial throughout the day and pretty quickly...

http://www.youtube.com/user/Sierra1947

Or you can just tubey search "Casey Anthony" Go to "search options" and click on "upload date"

and you`ll get the latest news reports of the trial.

This is also a great forum to read about it - lots of clever legal eagles commenting...

I wonder if Lockes is around? She was really interested.

Hi if you`re reading this Lockes.

I`m off to tidy the hoose before the big start!

You`re welcome Ev.

It`s a fascinating case, if that`s the right word?

So many twist & turns....

I followed the Scott Peterson case too. Like you, I was hooked. I`m the same with this one...although, for me, this one is even more interesting.

Good link there for the timeline Ev.

Hope you can at least watch the start of the case today. The opening statement by the prosecution should be powerful stuff.  The defense are on a hiding to nothing imo, so I can`t wait to see how they open. They go first.

Got to go. It starts in 10 minutes.

I blame OJ Simpson Scotty for my interest in these trials.

i have just made the excuse that my daughter is studying Criminology law and forensics in uni  to justify why i am interested in this case hahahaa

Just put the link up on my facebook not long ago, already a headed debate on MY fb due to an American fb friend saying she is guilty and should hang etc etc, and someone replying saying you know all this and she hasn't even been in court yet. Maybe you should tell the judge and he can send everyone home and save taxpayers money

There`s a few of those Ev...very few though.

I like your excuse...good one.

I don`t give any. I freely admit I`m obsessed. My family have accepted it now...just

Ah good stonks.   Yes and thanks Ev/Peachy. I never know what to call you.

You must have missed a good bit of the prosecutions opening statement then - or did you?

It was powerful and overwhelming evidence. I don`t know how the defense are going to counteract it.

I have a good idea what their strategy will be, from what I`ve heard so far.

They`re going to try to lay some blame on George, her father and her "abusive" upbringing.

She`s accused her brother Lee and her father of sexual abuse.

She only made this accusation recently. ( no doubt encouraged by her rooky defence lawyer - Jose Baez)  They are both horrified at the accusation.

She was brought up in a middle class, loving home. Spoiled rotten, according to everyone who knows them.

There`s more I can tell you but I must have some lunch..before the next round

See you after the recess stonks, if you`re still around.

No got most of the prosecution, I was a bit annoyed that they used the word Decomposed so much, I think if you over use a word it becomes less powerful if you know what I mean but did notice everytime the word was used Kayley looked down..

Very powerful, im drained and thats just from answering messages about the trial lol

Powerful opening statement.

LINDA DRANE BURDICK -- Assistant state attorney for Orange and Osceola counties. Prosecutor in the Casey Anthony case. Very meticulous, direct, even voice, although she could have done something about her hair right enough lol

I gathered the Anthony defence may try to lay blame on the Mother or the Father or the bloke who found the  remains.

Hi Ev

There are a lot of people over here who feel very stronly about this case because Casey has already tried to blame innocent people. She told the police a nanny had kidnapped Caylee, this woman received death threats and had her career ruined. She has had to leave the state even though it has been proved that she had nothing to do with it, Casey never met the nanny and had got her name from a third party. She has also tried to blame the man who found the body and went on partying for a month not telling anyone her daughter had disappeared.

I am keeping an open mind that she may not be guilty, but I would be very surprised.

It is a highly emotional charged case, people have been waiting a long time for this day.

What we have to remember is to leave all emotions outside( easier said than done)  and focus on what the evidence is, and then she may still be acquitted.

For the time being she is innocent.

I have read most of the time-lines and facts and picked up straight away from FACTS that she seems more than probable guilty.

The closing statement for the prosecution so far described in detail how she was dumped, the times, how she was killed, and gave their reasons why.(highly emotional) and Very plausible.

Can`t getting quoting properly...

I know what you mean stonks but I respectfully disagree. ( I`m picking up lawyer speak from the hinky forum )  This is Linda Drane Burdick`s main chance to drive it home to the jurors, who are hearing this for the first time.

Yes, Casey looks down when it`s mentioned. The jurors are facing her. LBD knows what she`s doing, believe me.

Hi Yogi    It`s good site - no hiccups really.

What did you think of the prosecutions opening statement?

Hi Scotty. I thought the prosecution's opening statement was very powerful and had a lot of detail.

I'll be very interested to see what the defence team come up with in their opening statement.
