I do, but more so in this last year than ever. Right at this moment I think this country's a clapped out dump and is unlikely to improve for years.

When I was a kid my parents seriously considered Australia but decided against it.

Obviously commitments, emotional/family ties and obligations come into it but what is your view and if you have, what was your experience? Grass greener or a rotting shade of washed out yellow?

We considered it years ago. My late husband was Scottish but had Canadian citizenship. He went there as young man.

We were almost on our way to Canada when he changed his mind and wanted to go to the outback of Australia!

I put my foot down about that so we stayed in Scotland. I was disappointed but thinking about it later, I would have missed my family and friends too much.

I agree Carnelian, this country is going down the pan but I wouldn`t move. I love Scotland

Yeah, we seriously looked into going to Vancouver..   hubby has family over there, I have family over there....   the education system is very similar to ours here (as in they have the same exam boards)...

There were lots of reasons for and against us going...    for hubby & the kids I think it was leaving family & friends behind that made them decide they didn't want to.    For me it was the thought of having to put my dog on a plane that did it for me.

Yes.  And if I'm not spending at least 6 months of the year (more if I get my way) in another country by the time 2012 comes along, then there'll be trouble.

I've got a lot of rellies in both Aus and Canada but don't fancy either of those places - too far and too long to get back to Blighty in case of emergencies.  Something around the 2 hour flying time will do me fine as it takes that long to get anywhere by road in this counry.

I'm definitely offski.

Thought about it a few years back when my company had placements available in Manhattan. Considered setting up a media product in Spain last year (and discussed going into it with a few people) but shit happens and couldn't go. (The same people have opened in London and may well launch abroad at a later date though!).

I couldn't move to the country, I'm a city bird. Can't be doing all that manure and animals that I can't even identify stuff. Manhattan is still very close to my heart, would love to work out there one day.
