Yes: I wondered about that too...

You think we take this too seriously?

The implosion/explosion blew the skull off and incinerated  the rest of the body/skeleton. Remember the dust/sand/powder the Doctor picked up when he came out of the teleporter?

It doesn't address the "room reset" problem that has apparently been a major source of discussion re "Heaven Sent" (if the rooms reset, how come the clothes, skulls etc are still there?), but it does indirectly address my question.

The first Doctor worked out the whole plan, so presumably he really did run round the castle naked...

How come that each time the Doctor punched the wall (which is supposed to be the most solid substance in the universe) his knuckles did not have a single scratch on them?

Also did Clara say the word 'arse' ?

That's obviously because it is the smoothest substance in the universe as well.

I'm assuming you get the reference re dreaming and showers?

I don't think we'll see Clara coming out of the shower. But, although it seems probable that she has left the series it's possible that she may appear in tonight's episode and that her departure this time could be somewhat different to that in Face the Raven.

The 'Hybrid' is the Doctor's new TARDIS. He is going all Eco-friendly on us.

No it's probably Cara as she has been going a bit independent on us for a while now and she seems to have found herself a new personal journey, will probably end up her sitting in a Dalek box.

I loved it - and love the idea of a spin off based on the BiB - maybe after she's finished being Queen Victoria, as the Doctor has shown us - it's always worth living in hope!

That about says it all of the new Dr Who series

Moonie

I absolutely LOVED that episode.    In general the Christmas episodes are usually irrelevant but this one at least followed a thread of story.   I thought it was great, but then I love River Song and the whole husband/wife/spoiler thing - and I think Alex Kingston and Peter Capaldi are the perfect couple.    Wonderful imo.

No Doctor Who episodes this year apart from the Christmas one.

The head writer and executive producer of Doctor Who, Steven Moffat, is to step down from the show, the BBC has confirmed.

His last series will go out in spring 2017 following a Christmas special, after which he will be replaced by Broadchurch writer Chris Chibnall.

Moffat took over the reins on series five of the world's longest running sci-fi series in 2010.

BBC One's controller, Charlotte Moore, said Moffat was an "absolute genius".

In a statement, the BBC said he had been responsible for introducing the 11th and 12th Doctors - Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi - as well as two companions in Karen Gillan and Jenna Coleman.

Moffat said it took "a lot of gin and tonic" to talk Chibnall into taking up his new position.

"I am beyond delighted that one of the true stars of British television drama will be taking the Time Lord even further into the future," he said.

"At the start of season 11, Chris Chibnall will become the new showrunner of Doctor Who. And I will be thrown in a skip."

New worlds

Chibnall described Doctor Who as "the ultimate BBC programme - bold, unique, vastly entertaining, and adored all around the world".

He added: "So it's a privilege and a joy to be the next curator of this funny, scary and emotional family drama.

"I've loved Doctor Who since I was four years old, and I'm relishing the thought of working with the exceptional team at BBC Wales to create new characters, creatures and worlds for the Doctor to explore."

Ms Moore thanked Moffat "for everything he has given Doctor Who".

She said: "I've loved working with him, he is an absolute genius and has brought fans all over the world such joy.

"I will be very sad to see him leave the show but I can't wait to see what he will deliver in his last-ever series next year with a brand new companion."

The new Doctor Who companion is to be revealed during the half time interval during tomorrow's FA Cup semi-final on BBC1 at approximately 18.00.

As Peter Capaldi has said ""Now we have someone who knows very little about the Doctor." that would seem to rule out Maisie Williams, There has been speculation that it may be Rakhee Thakrar (Shabnam Masood from Eastenders). Could it be Maddy Hill (Nancy Cartter who leaves Eastenders today - a coincidence or not ?
