I enjoyed tonight but when they split up (when the alarms went off at first) I couldn't help but feel the Doctor was too calm! The doctor I've grown to know and love would have been more "Oh, okay.. I'm guessing that's not in the architect's plan.... um uh you two go that way we will go this way" with a bit more 'flapping' and mind cogs... That said i did like it.

I also instantly felt sorry for The Teller, i was wondering why such a powerful creature would let anyone chain it up as a prisoner So the end was just perfect for me!

Loving the Clara character enhancement through out the new series but it is ringing alarm bells for me that it's a build up before a massive blow.... I cant help thinking they are going to kill her off in an epic way

I feel the same. The change of Doctor isn't working for me.

Nor me. I'm a fan for everything else he's done, but after the last two doctors he's just boring (I think that's the word I'm looking for).

 I agree with you.

I'm enjoying Capaldi a little bit more now. He has some amazing "moments" but I'm on board with the word "boring" when comparing him to the previous 2.

I think the last two episodes (writing wise) have been great! Both episodes have been really tense..... although the ending last night was slightly disappointing. I was praying for something genuinely exciting to be in the private vault. Apologies to the poor tortured monster.

Peter Capaldi as the Doctor is an inspired choice.  I think the new dynamic between Clara and the Dr is far more entertaining and Jenna Coleman has really come into her own in this series. Last series she just seemed annoying and hoped she'd leave the show soon, now it's the reverse.  Last night's was perhaps the weakest so far, but still better than average in recent times.  Knowingly derivative of the Oceans 11/Hustle bank heist genre and look but I like those things anyway.

Yes, Clara is better and I'm liking her more.

But the Hustle (I could not remember) type episode was a bit lazy for me, If I had not felt the Hustle influence early on and the programme had been shot differently I may have though it better.

They were based in London I think and each episode featured an elaborate sting on some unsuspecting individual.

Well, tonight's episode of Doctor Who sort of reminded me of that, especially in the way it was shot.

Hustle

I kinda enjoyed Saturday's episode. I thought Cara had a much more prominent role with a nice bit of humour thrown in.

As for the Doctor, I'm getting a feeling of simmering anger from him most of the time.

Getting a tad fed up with the cuts at the end to all the people who are getting bumped off as I know the pay-off is going to be disappointing.

Still enjoying the episodes.  The comedic interaction between Coleman and  Capaldi keeps getting better, they are great foils for each other.  The theme of the show was the doctor's prejudice and revulsion against men of arms, which has been quite strong since the reboot.  I enjoyed it and I suppose the plot took a back seat in setting up the acrimonious prejudice of the doctor towards Danny Pink, because of his service record. Danny's character's becoming nicely filled out and sympathetic too.

Hustle was a top show, IMO, loved the twist and turns in that show.

I seem to be totally out of sync with the rest of humanity (slightly too dramatic?) where Doctor Who is concerned.

The world was full of love for the new Doctor - and I hated him. Now the world is full of hate for last night's episode (seriously, avoid all contact with Whovians - it's scary out there! ) and I loved it!

Mr. Capaldi finally made me laugh ... and more than once! And oh my god! I haven't cried so much over an episode of Doctor Who than I did at the end of this one! Proper proper crying.

My tears may have been the result of unresolved grief rather than a particularly good script however. Clara's disappointment in the Doctor made me yearn for the "nice" doctors. (Plus I couldn't help but imagine how Matt's Doctor would have taken the telling off - his sad face would have broken my heart )

I am starting to get on board with the grumpiness though

Ducky

Finally got to see Episode 8, and enjoyed it. Still not sure about the series as a whole though, but can't quite put my finger on it: I suspect it's a feeling that the individual episodes are being swamped by unanswered questions regarding the over-arching storyline. Hopefully it will all become clear in the final double-bill...

BTW: did anyone-else spot the "Are you my mummy?" reference?

Yes, I would agree about Capaldi.

And I would agree about Clara.

Not been so enamoured with some of the episodes though. I really could not see the point of Frank Skinner, they could have got a better actor/character to perform his role.

The episode had so much potential, but felt a bit like they needed to save cash mid season, so had a limited number of sets and actors.
