My musings on the second episode.

  • How many children will be asking what a 'proctologist' is
  • Story 'nicked' from the film 'Fantastic Voyage'
  • New love interest for Clara to further distance her from any Doctor shenanigans. Is this going to be a longer term character? Me thinks so.
  • Very much liking the Doctor's outfit - I want one.
  •  Why did they use such a large device to 'inject' the pod into the Dalek's eye piece? Especially as precision was not a requirement!
  • Clara's shirt has little pictures of aliens in flying saucers on it.
  • The Sonic Screwdriver is a flawed device, surely such a device would have a built in Geiger Counter enabling the Doctor to detect any kind of radiation across the universe... Yet it can open a big bolt-door.
  •  They all got clean of gunge pretty quickly.
  • Exit stage left into story arc. Tea anyone? Not sure I always enjoy a story arc.
  • The Doctor 'mind-melding' with a Dalek.

Not bad episode. Liking the interaction between the Doctor and Clara more, needs time to mature, but promising. One or two nice lines and repeat references. Pretty much standard DW fare, be nice if Moffat started to take a back seat on the writing for me and let some other writers in on the job.

Still hovering around the 6/7 out of 10 atm.

So what's this thing he has against soldiers....and when did it happem? All those years with UNIT gone for nothing....or is it something to do with Martha? I didn't see many of the episodes with her.

I have not seen last nights episode yet, but I left my musing on the previous week up there ^ somewhere. But my biggest concern is that the stories are just not going to be engaging enough. I'm hoping the first few weeks are PC 'bedding in' the character.

If you don't gell with the person playing the Doctor then I think no matter how good the stories are you just lose interest. I did not like Matt, he was way too manic for me (and he visibly spits a lot). I prefer an older Doctor, so for me PC is a good starting point.

I'm praying that tonight episode is better. I'm REALLY struggling! I usually love Doctor Who so much and I want to love Capaldi, so I'm trying very very hard, honest

I'm hoping it's just settling in problems (with him AND the writers), but I just think they've made him too mardy (and the stories too crap). I was looking forward to the mardiness, but if they want me to love a mardy Doctor they've got to mix the mardiness with a bit of bleeding charm!

Capaldi needs to stop mumbling (and be a lot funnier ) and the writers just need to get a grip.

On the positive side, I'm still looking forward to tonight's episode cos it looks like a spooky one, and I'm impressed with the new and improved Clara. She seems to be getting a bit of the Oswin/Victorian-Clara spirit back.  (If she could quit with the smug expression when she tries to be funny, I would like her even more).

No, I agree mostly except I have not really liked the Doctor since Tennant and I think the stories have been mediocre at best on many occasions since Tennant.

I think I may have seen too many Doctors and episodes now and it's all getting a bit samey. I sooo want PC to be a good 'un. But the writers need sacking for that to happen.

Last weeks episode was pretty poor TBH.

I nearly gave up on the whole thing after last weeks episode!

I much prefered the stories in Matt series than David tbh (yes, we are on first name terms )....and the dodgy one's were still fine cos Matt made me laugh so much. I love Steven Moffatt's writing normally, but I think it's time for a change.

There was a programme (series) on BBC One which featured a team of conmen and one conwoman! - I only saw a couple of episodes. Had Robert Vaughan in it. Can't recall the title though.

They were based in London I think and each episode featured an elaborate sting on some unsuspecting individual.

Well, tonight's episode of Doctor Who sort of reminded me of that, especially in the way it was shot.

I feel the same. The change of Doctor isn't working for me.

Nor me. I'm a fan for everything else he's done, but after the last two doctors he's just boring (I think that's the word I'm looking for).

I thought the same about Matt Smith, did not like him. But the actor can only play what he is given and some of the stories have been rather average so far.

Yeah, maybe it's the storylines?
