I like how we are so very off-topic.

Ditty, did you tell them?
noooo! My son would have been suffering from psychosomatic illnesses for months if I had told him! He's already paranoid about sell by dates cos of an incident when he was about 4 with a bag of (soft & not nice) out of date crisps. (chips to you Lori)Reference:
Took a look at the box, and realized that the box had existed longer than our relationship (going on 14 years)
pancakes from a box!
I do love it when you find stuff that is properly out of date - I collect tins of tuna and tins of processed peas that are years out of date!
I'm glad you said that Lori, I'm completely lost.
You and my dad must be releated
He used to go weeks with not speaking to anyone and it was always a stupid reason why he wouldnt speak, he still does it now but usually snaps out of it after about 3 days now

not mushy peas, surely! That'd be a travesty...

Lori that is impressive. The oldest item of food I have ever had in my house is about 2 years old and it's usually tinned stuff. 14 years old food! LOL!
You can normally get away with tinned stuff.
Got some in the back of the cupboard dating back to 1998
Can't make out what it used to be now, but keeping it for sentimental purposes.

"impressive". That's one way to put it.
Needless to say, we went through the cupboards carefully, and our daughter checks EVERYthing whenever she comes over.
Dave: Is October 31st the last time you had anyone IN your house, by some chance?

I think I can beat you all on most pantry sell by date competitions. One well remembers the Frankie Dees incidents. The firm ceased trading around these parts 30 years ago. :smug:

LOL Lori My mother used to have some really old stuff in her cupboard and would often have food for a few years... and she had a soda syphon from 1976 that she still had in 2003! In 2003, it hadn't been used since 1980 and she was proper vexed when she couldn't get the parts to fix it .
I don't tend to hoard tinned food and that, because every Christmas, I dish it out to a charity that collects for aid abroad, the homeless, and elderly people. And they ask for tinned food/pasta and stuff like that, so I get rid of stuff that is close to the sell by date (like only has a month left.)
UBER impressive by the way Garage Joe!

Nice fellows down the local food co-op are forever foisting their wares on me on a Friday night. Oh aye, rarely a week goes by without me being collared in the back alley by some fit young lads and being tempted with the lure of a few plump sausages and some rancid old plums. It's hard to resist.

Well, yes. Yes it is.

Did you let them leave, Dave, or murder them and pop them in the freezer?

I don't think it's you we need to worry about. Talk too much at Dave's pad and it's heave ho in we go. A future amongst the fish fingers awaits.

Well, I do have that huge American style fridge/freezer to fill. But the truth is that it was Ted, Rosemary, and the kids. I let them leave on their own, and in good health.

(It WAS a lot of fun, though. )
