You're both being a bit disingenuous here. He has never put on airs and graces and hasn't crowed about his home. PCE, you used to say that yourself, but one misinterpreted comment makes you go off him.

No rule change, just personally don't like it when well known WUMs come on here to try and upset people and it's then viewed as someone having an 'opinion'

I have no personal knowledge of KG. I don't think I have ever posted with her but she is entitled to her view. And many views have been expressed on here, some on one side, some on another. None worse than another. As I have said it was stated pages and pages back that we are all entitled to our opinions and I respect that, so KG is entitled to hers.

He doesn't/didn't need the money, he's abusing the system.

You're confusing this with his parents having money. He didn't, he was between school and uni, so he was perfectly entitled to claim the dole, just as any other person without a job.

So, would we consider Freddie to be privileged to be born to wealthy parents? To be educated in the best tradition of a classical education which leads to an Oxford Degree? How lucky he is, is what I say to that. He has won first prize in the lottery of life is also what I would say. He is also lucky in that his parents have brought him up to have good manners. They have done a sterling job with Freddie, he is a really decent and respectable boy.

If Freddie has claimed the dole at some point in his life, he is entitled to so so. We all can, rich or poor. It is the Law of the Land, and one that was instigated to help people to find work. It is still a right we all enjoy. To say Freddie is not entitled to claim Unemployment Benefit is to admit to not knowing the Law of the Land, and to segregate people in a class-conscious way. It says more about the people accusing Freddie of his non-entitlement than it does about Freddie himself.

And as for his comment about his 'dole', he did view it as pocket money before he went to Oxford. He probably lived rent-free in the mansion and the dole money enabled him to have a little bit of independence. But he was still entitled to it. And his attitude and stance about the dole in general was said in natural conversation and not to be taken as gospel or a sign of arrogant oneupmanship.

He has a right to claim what he's entitled to, but it doesn't make it the right thing to do and we have a right to object. Like the wealthy claiming their childrens allowance. All these benifits should be means tested.

You'd have to ask her. As far as I am concerned, he did nothing wrong and as for his argument with Lisa, good on him. She bullied him within an inch of his life for weeks and he's finally hit back and said what we've all been thinking for weeks. Get rid of the old shrew and get some equilibrium in the house.

There`s Cocoa questioning, asking why? Yet has refused from the start of this thread, which kicked it all off btw, to answer why she called Freddie evil.

Cocoa post: "why can`t we all get along" Frowner

She wants everyone to get along..bless. Angel

I certainly won`t ignore your posts if I want to respond to them, like you haven`t ignored mine. Expect replies if you ridicule and taunt others Cocoa.

This is an ongoing debate. The thing about family allowance is that it is always paid to the mother. I think its sentiment was along the lines of... there be some money go directly to the mother of the children to provide for them, so that those children who have fathers who drink or gamble all their wages have something.

Don't jump on me about the political incorrectness of all this... its just how I understand the reasoning behind family allowance to be.

If it be wrong... I am open to being corrected.

While those who previously liked Freddie find his comments acceptable and are defending them.
Isn`t this a bit odd.
Doesn`t it suggest that this thread contains pre-set bias (in either direction) rather than objectivity?
