Get your facts right..it was Bea not Freddie.
He nods at everything. He was laughing AT her. His next comment was. "You`re very good at putting people down Bea." Said with a touch of disdain.

Not that she was on the dole, luckily, not in that position; Shes only 16, and is going back to 6th form, but she has been trying to get a Saturday job, evening job etc for ages and tried everywhere. Nobody was recruiting and she was getting really fed up, and then just now she got an email telling her she has been successful!!! Wo! Maybe now she can start saving to pay for her own JLS tour tickets!!!
Im liking google chrome, doesnt crash like the useless firefox

My thoughts exactly. Despite what certain papers may say about our 'overgenerous ' benefit system, it is in fact the second meanest next to Portugal out of the the 'old' EU countries!

I very seldom have a "row" on here,Im a very fair person imo. I did say it was awful to watch and very nasty when Halfwit was indeed being targeted at the start of BB10. I then started to like Charlie, who I have also now gone off. I said the other day there is only a handful of hms who I still like. I do still like Siavash, and hated what Noirin did to him, but then I think about his girlfriend on the outside and how she mustve felt, which takes away his brownie points! I certainly think this years hm have made us at home watching it a bit at times tho!!
Absolutely I get so wrapped up in the whole show and it takes over the summer for me. I love how I can really like a housemate one minute then the next they say something or do something that I don't like and it all changes. With Freddie I started off feeling sorry for him (I hated the other HM's treatment of him). I've got to say that in real life he'd bug me. I still quite like him as a housemate but all that Hmmmm-ing gets on my nerves and I'm never sure what's behind that grin! As for the rest of them .. well how long you got
Actually - I don't even know who I want to win right now.

Can I please just point out that someone who doesn't approve of what they see as 'snobbery' is not therefore per se an 'inverted snob.'
I, for e.g. don't approve up some of the behaviour of the hms, irrespective of their social class, wealth etc. I don't like nastiness, nor people looking down their noses at others or mocking them, again irrespective of social status.
Just a thought, but haven't heard anyone being called an 'inverted snob' for criticising Bea's behaviour

Just because you like Halfwit, and I dont, dont try and make me believe what you want to believe he was saying. As someone else commented earlier, did you actually watch it. You pick me up for saying he laughed, when it might have just been a grin. And "more or less difficult to survive on" were not words he said and the way he spoke does not equate in anyway to him saying this!!!quote:Originally posted by Scotty:quote:Originally posted by Little Miss Spurs:he never said anything like that! He said it was a bit of pocket money and laughed!!! Had he said, "I dont know how people, who are not lucky enough to be in my position, manage to live on that small amount week in week out" then I wouldnt have made the comment!!quote:Originally posted by squiggle:
Just to make it clearer what he said, having been informed by other FM's. He said he had to claim the dole for a short time before he started at college and the amount was so low it was little more than pocket money. He felt it was a derisory amount to be handing out to people and Dave agreed with him.
He did NOT laugh at all. You need to look at the video again, instead of inventing stuff.
He didn`t say it was a bit of pocket money TO HIM. He said it was like pocket money, meaning how low the amount of money is when your signing on. More or less extremley difficult to surive on. Which is true and David agreed...
The words YOU wanted him to say are not what he said but the meant the same thing, apart from YOU wanting him to refer to his "position" I take it a you mean privileged? Can you not see that?
This twisting of the conversation is nothing more than inverted snobbery, Lisa style.
It`s pathetic.
Yes I did watch it. You said "he laughed!!! " now you`re saying he was smiling with an inane grin. Make your mind up.
Me liking Freddie has nothing at all to do with my opinion on the conversation. I wouldn`t in anyway expect or want to reverse your opinion of the conversation. The words he used suit the inverted snobbery argument, I see the bigger picture and the real meaning behind them, just like David did.
Your and suggests you can`t cope with differing opinions or debating.
I`ll leave you to your funny faces.
Im in no way an inverted snob! Just coz Ive got a London accent and live in a council place, doesnt mean I dislike wealthy ppl, or ppl who speak well! I voted for Will Young to win Pop Idol I'll have you know!!!quote:Originally posted by Supercalifragilistic:

No, because he spent several years studying at university.

I think he was trying to appear cool and "one of the people" by declaring he had been on the dole. As to "pocket money", I think he was saying simply that it wasn't very much. I actually think he was trying to appear sympathetic with people who have to go on the dole.

Looks like it because some people will see a negative ulterior motive in everything other people do.

I disagree a little there, I have also been on Freddies side sometimes and said so on this forum, however in this instance it came accross very wrong to me but that is my opinion each to their own.quote:Originally posted by jennywren:quote:Originally posted by TiGi:quote:Originally posted by jennywren:quote:Originally posted by Little Miss Spurs:
