Comrade...I've heard of a few, personally....it's a mine field IMHO, some people just seem to want to re-connect with someone from their past where they imagined a happier place...I don't really know. I have to remind myself that who I am with is who I was meant to be with...he can be a pain the arse, but he is kind and loyal...so I am kind and loyal to him. It also helps that I can't imagine a better father to my children...I'm glad that you have moved on and appear so gracious..I wish you happiness

Comrade ... am glad you to hear you sounding so much better....

& to answer your question...  I haven't heard of many of these things happening through facebook..   But for the 4 or 5 years that Friends Reunited was at its busiest it was so common!

In fact, most of my friends & their partners all felt that searching around Friends Reunited & contacting members of the opposite sex was pretty much tantamount to sticking an advert on Adultfriendfinder  (naughty "lets meet up and have sex site) or similar!

Hubby & I met online... in a chat room.   So we were already aware of how things can start when you chat online... consequently we have always had a pact not to chat in chatrooms, msn etc since we married.   This has recently been relaxed a bit cos my involvement with people from this forum starting to become more than forum posting... what with facebook & the community feel that is here!

So....  now that you are out of the woods so to speak...   are you ready to dip your toe in the water again?

lots of "nice" sites out there.... all involved with helping peeps of all ages meet people!

Before meeting hubby I had quite a few bf's but there were only 3 where it got very close to engagement. Two I eventually realised weren't right for me, the other I really thought he was the one, we worked together and I was completely drawn to him but for such a long time he never noticed me, but then he did and I was blissfully happy to spend time with him, we had so much in common and talked of marriage which I just assumed would happen. Then suddenly after about a year he disappeared almost overnight, literally disappeared, from work, from his home address, I tried so hard for ages to find him but couldn't. I was beside myself with almost like grieving for a very long time not knowing what happened, I never found out what happened. Because of this thread I put his name in FB search, but nothing. I'm glad I met hubby and we've been together for a long time, he's so right for me, but I'll always wonder what happened to the one that disappeared

YR, tell us his name..bet one of us could find him
Croc is the person you want for that!   I'd put money on it she could find him!

She is like a virtual bloodhound!    Is a nice way of course!

Seriously though YR - that would do my head in....   that is one of those things you really do need closure on!   You say he "disappeared"...   did he put his affairs in order...  packed, took his stuff.. kinda thing?

Glad you found your hubby too xx

There are two ex's of mine I periodically search for on the interweb.

One was not so much a boyfriend as the boy on our street that we hung around with!  I had my first snog with him.... round the back of the Barratt Showhouse!    Neither him nor his little brother are findable on Facebook or Friends Reunited, or Google etc.

The other one was a kinda boyfriend... & considering his dad is in "the biz" should have been easy to track down.  But he too has his online presence nailed down.   All I can find is that he worked on the set of Last of the Summer Wine!

I did check for my very first boyfriend when I joined FB out of curiosity as I have not seen him for nearly 30 years and he has a fairly uncommon last name, I found him and was rather surprised to say the least.  When I knew him he had gorgeous brown slightly curly hair, he is now completely bald and has put on loads of weight, still married to the same person and lives in the same place he moved to when they got married.  The pictures I found of him on FB sort of destroyed the illusion that he would be the same somehow.   He was gorgeous when I was 13 though!!  Sometimes it's best just to have the memories (and photos from then!!)

The guy who I had my first snog with is the brother of my GP so I ask about him from time to time, he lives up in Scotland...so now I'm off to fb to have a nosey at what he looks like these days!
EDIT after looking, EEK definitely wouldn't snog him now, and what is he wearing in his profile pic...Mr Tucky-in  (His brother on the other hand, is rather delicious)
