That was just a tease.

 Here I am. I just had a week and a bit off from work, and it's been eventful.

1 - my brother and his missus have split up after 6 years of marriage. I never liked her, but it's a shame for him.
2 - my parents' geriatric Jack Russell, Spike, has crossed the rainbow bridge aged 16.
3 - I've got a date for my shoulder op - three days before Christmas!
4 - I've also got a scraped face, bruised ribs and a terrible black eye after falling over in the street.
5 - I'm back in work, and back here.

Anything momentous happened while I've been gone?

The shoulder op is keyhole surgery, to hopefully give me more mobility in it. I've got what is known as "rotator cuff" trouble

ooooh that sounds nasty...does it mean the joint isn't rotating properly?  Will you be in a cast or anything over christmas?

My brother had to get the tendons in his shoulder shortened a few years ago, because they were lose it kept dislocating all the time.  I know that's not what you have, but I thought seeing as they were both shoulder injuries you might like to hear of a kindred spirit

I will be getting out of cooking, or doing anything more taxing than unwrapping presents, but I won't need a cast. I'll just have my arm in a sling for a few days - thinking of drafting in one of my collection of vintage head scarves for that!

Oh, and one other thing - I've quit smoking

Oh my goodness, you did have an eventful week.  Yes, we missed you, but I don't think you missed a huge amount on here.

Just told my boss I'm mucking up his Christmas rota. Won't be in next Tuesday (pre-op assessment tests) and deffo won't be in on Tuesday 22nd (op itself) or next day (lying on sofa, with arm in silk scarf sling).

So that actually means after Monday 21st I won't be back in work until December 29, woohoo!

Don't think anyone noticed I wasn't here either....

and what's happened to the forum while I've been away? It's gone all weird....
