If he can say such a horrible thing about his own mother then it's hardly suprising that he's been so disrespectful to all the female housemates. :-/

Saw his Mum on BBLB and she seemed a really nice lady. She's probably used to how he is but it did come across as disrespectful and surely he doesn't have to make a joke out of everything

HEHE well said Darlo,
I have JUST logged on since watching the HLs, and when he said that, OBVIOUS JOKE,
I turned to my OH and said there will be a thread about this and "they" will ALL be in,(was I wrong)?

you should hear some of the things my OH and her ADULT son say to each other, and there is NO DOUBT in MY mind that they LOVE each other to bits, they are more like best friends than mother and son, there is NO "disrespect" between them AT ALL, in fact they "joke around" with each other and sometimes say the most shocking things to each other IN JEST, BECAUSE their bond is so strong,
and I have NO DOUBT whatsoever that the same thing is true of Marcus and his mum,
but HEY the "high n mighty" of the forum think THEY know how their relationship is...NO, they seem to think they have the RIGHT to dictate how it SHOULD be, how bloody DARE they, Mad Shake Head

You know what? I think that's what it is. I fail to see the funny side of him directing a barrage of obscenities at his mother, on TV.

I can't begin to pretend to understand the upbringing he may or may not have had. If that is the reason for what he said, then I feel sorry for him. I truely do.

However, if as many in this thread have suggested, he said it because it was him being humerous, then I'm glad I don't find him funny. That kind of language, particularly when directed at his mother, is not my idea of TV Gold.
He is crass, he is rude and he punctuates everything with many and varied swear words. I can totally understand how that upsets people but how could you for one moment think he seriously meant any of that to a mother he looks after. The character assassination of HMs this year has gone to another level.

I agree Capt Clapping

I'm sure Marcus loves his Mum or why else would he let her live with him. The only point being made by some of us is Marcus is tv savvy, or BB savvy. He must know his remarks would be broadcast, ok it's seen as his jokey way because of how he is, but not everyone viewing might see it that way

In which case I am happy to accept the title of high and mighty.

With this title, I say that Marcus was a complete disgrace tonight.

As a high and mighty person I say there is never a time or a place for calling your mother a f*cking lazy b*stard mingebag, and certainly not on national television.

As a high and mighty person I say he's a disrespectful little man who needs to grow up, start acting his age, and learn how to communicate without the necessity of using vulgarity whenever possible.

As a high and mighty person I say he's let himself down BIG TIME tonight.

Edit: Oh and by the way, if a complete stranger is having to tell you that the way in which you speak to your mother is disgusting, and disrespectful... chances are... they're right.

I can see it from your point of view, but people often complain about HMs being false and not being themselves. Here we have a perfect example of a HM being true to himself. This is one of the many reasons that I support Marcus. He is being real! He's not putting on any act.

WHY would they be RIGHT?? if a complete stranger overheard a conversation between me and my mother (not very likely as she has been dead for over 20 years, but for the sake of argument)
they would have NO IDEA about our relationship or how deeply we loved each other, in short it would have NOTHING to do with them, and they would soon be eating through a straw,

anyway this is getting a bit like the angry bloke off Harry Enfield now..."if HE came round MY house" etc etc,
I will just say that I think Marcus loves his mum and would NOT have said those things if he thought for ONE SECOND that she would be offended by them, Nod

He's the one who moans on and on about how they never have a laugh with him. If he's got to that age and hasn't worked out that some people find being talked to like that highly offensive and not in the least funny, then that shows a complete lack of empathy and low emotional intelligence.

And if I can hear it in their voices that he pisses them off by talking to them like that, should I apologise for feeling empathy for them?

yip LOVING the way he has "turned it around" more and more people are "getting him".
when he first came in my OH said "oh hey up...one for you" cause he LOOKS like the "type" who are my friends, this made me very suspicious of him and DETERMINED NOT to like him just for that reason,
so I "bided" my time for a bit, the night he stood up to Lisa was the turning point for me, he is head and shoulders above the others in there IMO, and I would LOVE him to win, but sadly I just cant see the GBP going for a real person instead of a Z list wannabe, Thumbs Up

He said that he was just chasing her, because he was bored. He knew that she had said that she didn't fancy him, but wanted to chase her anyway.

He spent most of the time telling her how she should be and trying to mold her into the woman she should be, in his eyes, and invested a lot of time in isolating her from others.

He also did the same with others, telling them to trust no one but him.

Very manipulative and controlling - scary!
