If he can say such a horrible thing about his own mother then it's hardly suprising that he's been so disrespectful to all the female housemates. :-/

Just as he was saying it, I had the same thought! has mother issues, bound to have women issues... I don't know what happened to him as a child, so won't comment, but he needs to work it out for himself.. he is not funny!

Mollie, my jaw dropped when he said it. I was horrified by the complete lack of respect.

Marcus isn't a kid though, he's a 35 year old man.

Anyway I seem to be in the minority in thinking it was a deeply disrespectful thing to say about your own mother on national television so I guess it must be acceptable.

She shouldn't have put herself on national TV so she would make fun of him.
Free Thinking
I do honestly think marcus mum would laugh it off.

She knows what he is like, deep down i bet he loves his mummy.

Marcus seems to be type that he masks what he really feels and his humour masks it.

I know is humour can be very close to the edge, but i honestly think deep down marcus is a decent guy,all that nonsence and talk from him is shocking at first, but then you realise half of it is not real.

Put into care, his brother wont even talk to his mother.

At least he looks after her.

He has said he brought himself up. I get the feeling he has now forgiven his mother but still harbours resentment that he cant shake, if that makes sense.
The fact he still lives with her, says he needs her, as she wasnt there for him in childhood. Hence his playing with toys, I'd imagine and his aweful language and I suppose his controlling of Noirin. It all makes sense now.

For people trying to compare their family with Marcus's

I take it that you had a father in your life. You werent put into care. Your mother didnt leave you and your brother to fend for yourselves.

Thankfully my father and mother are wonderful people and if i called my mother anything like that my dad would hit me and i would deserve it.

I don't know any of that stuff about Marcus's family. I do know that my family say stuff on a par with that all the time. Family unit is intact - and although to an outsider the words sound disrespectful, they in no way reflect the true feelings of the people involved. I happen to get the same vibe from Marcus, that's all. Different families, different opinions.
Mind you- if I ever said anything disrespectful to my mother in anger (as I did when I was a teenager) then, yes, there would be hell to pay, but that's a totally different situation.

So do I..... Mind you, I'd be gutted if either of my kids spoke about anyone the way Marcus does.

If there were issues I would guess they have sorted out their differences by now.

She had a twinkle in her eyes when she was talking to George Lamb about Marcus.

His sense of humour might not be to everyone's liking, but he did seem he was joking when he said that about his mum.
Exactly, clearly they have gone through a lot and they have got to the point now that they are adults and he can call her an old mingebag but mean it with love.

You know what? I think that's what it is. I fail to see the funny side of him directing a barrage of obscenities at his mother, on TV.

I can't begin to pretend to understand the upbringing he may or may not have had. If that is the reason for what he said, then I feel sorry for him. I truely do.

However, if as many in this thread have suggested, he said it because it was him being humerous, then I'm glad I don't find him funny. That kind of language, particularly when directed at his mother, is not my idea of TV Gold.

He appears to be the one looking after his mother rather than his brother. He's very unassuming really and has been throughout BB even although it might not be obviously apparant.

He is crass, he is rude and he punctuates everything with many and varied swear words. I can totally understand how that upsets people but how could you for one moment think he seriously meant any of that to a mother he looks after. The character assassination of HMs this year has gone to another level.
