I loved it on TV ... it was totally unscripted then, so a total masterpiece.

I saw it at the Playhouse about 10 years ago and it was good.

This afternoon was fabulous ... and the tapas afterwards was great too

Synopsis - Nuts in May

The main couple, childlike Candice Marie (Alison Steadman) and eccentric Keith (Roger Sloman), arrive at the campsite and pitch their tent in a quiet spot suitable for appreciating nature's wonders while keeping other human beings safely at arm's length. Their usual routine (which includes performing their own guitar-banjo compositions, preparing healthy vegetarian dinners and following the Country Code) is rudely interrupted by Ray (Anthony O'Donnell), a lone student who camps down nearby and switches on his radio: this is treated by the couple as an unforgivable crime, and they force Ray to turn it off. Later, on the way home after a trip to Stair Hole, it begins to rain and the couple notice a figure (which turns out to be Ray) walking along the road and give him a lift home.

Their relationship becomes increasingly tense and tempers flare when Keith notices Candice Marie exhibiting an unseemly interest in Ray's well-being - "she crawls into his tent to show him stones she has collected on the beach; Keith explodes with jealous rage after spying on them from behind the bushes with his binoculars, like a character in a farce."^[2] Later, Ray is asked to take a photograph of the couple but is patronised by Keith and Candice Marie and is forced to participate in a song at Keith's behest. As soon as some kind of order seems to have been restored, Brummie couple Finger and Honky arrive on their motorbike, equipped with an army tent, a football and a fondness for late-night drinking. Needless to say, Keith is tested to the limit. Finally, Keith and Candice Marie leave the campsite after an intense argument over Finger's plans to light a fire to cook some sausages. Keith highly objects to this, as it contravenes the rules of the site, and resorts to violence in order to stop it.

There are some Mike Leigh DVD box sets out, but last time I looked they were a bit pricy. Would like to own them though

The only film I do have ripped off mind - was damn hard to get hold of a while back. So just nipped off to check on prices. Some optimistic people are trying to sell it for £39.99 wow. £17.93 - getting lower. US Import cheaper, but region locked. Mike Leigh box set £25.25, but you do get a number of films, so not too bad.

The UK licensee for the manufacturing and distribution of "Splayds" during the 1970s was Viners of Sheffield. At that time they were one of the biggest cutlery manufacturers in Great Britain.

I've spent ages hunting for this design - I was bought two or three dinner sets as wedding gifts - every one had it.

YES! We had those ones too. I think we've only got one left - a highball tumbler.

haha Soozy... I made my Mum upgrade her coolness to a range of Sarah Moon pictures when I was in my teens.

I had a lovely Sara Moon pic (don't know what happened to it) - I'm off to Google.

I think it was this one. Mr Woo's boss and his wife bought it for us after a trip to the US.
