Wouldn't that be fantastic, Jen?  But I think it's going to take a bit more than that for those women.

I got a phone call, so got distracted.     I didn't realise this was mentioned in another thread - I was late home and I'd only just read the news when I posted. Xochi - really harrowing reading all that article - I'd read bits and pieces as the trial was ongoing (funnily enough it never seemed to be 'front page' news on a lot of the websites which I found strange)  but I'd not read so much detail.

I'd say he's a good poster boy for bring back hanging.. but it's too good for him.      She doesn't deserve to walk away, but she'll live with this for the rest of her life - that lowlife's probably already considering how to make some capital out of the situation and I hope he never sees the outside of prison again.

yes . I believe he hanged himself -  Huntley tried to kill himself - didnt succeed and has been closely watched/guarded ever since

I dont think it is as easy these days for other prisoners to get at them ...

Call me mercenary but I quite like it when they're thwarted in their attempts to duck out of their misery.

It's unfortunate about Fred West, but there's a satisfaction to be had from knowing the likes of Huntley (and i.e. Ian Brady) wanted to die but were stopped.

Cosmopolitan

You are both right (Cosi and MrsH)

MrsH you are right the 'honour amongst thieves' thing has been clamped down upon within prisons

And Cosi, yeah thinking about it they will be left to it (when there is probably some hope of them getting back to normality) where as he will have all sorts of 'therapies' thrown at him that will make no dent what so ever

This stuff about him was only allowed to be reported after the jury's decision. I'm glad about that personally because I can now discuss him and hate him without prejudice.

Yes Cosi I agree and your not mercenary at all -  I just think prison is so softly softly these days it is too good a place for what they have done ....

Oh man their heads must be in bits Do you mean the 5 Lisa took with her?

It's just that there's a tribe of kids who've been living in the midst of this shower of shit for far too long.

They've lost their siblings in an horrendous way and also have had the nightmare of living with their horror of a father.  The maternal side has hardly been a shining example.  God knows whether those kids have any grasp on normality whatsoever.

I ended up missing the Panorama programme that prompted me to start this thread in the first place

Very true - they don't seem to have been mentioned do they?  How old would they be?

I reckon that is well and truly as it should be Kaffs.  Their future lies in their privacy being observed. They have enough to deal with from observing their father's behaviour as it is.

Far too young to have had to put up with all of that sewer rat's behaviour, that's for sure.  God knows what kind of morals and examples they've been exposed to.

Xochi, I'm all for them having 100% privacy, was thinking more along the lines of them hopefully being the ones who get the best possible care and attention in all of this.

Yep, I know. And after they've all been through they need all the help they can be offered. Which, sadly in these times, they more than probably won't have access to.

A mother and father convicted of killing six of their children in a house fire were "good" parents, a court has heard.

During the trial the court heard details of how Philpott led an unconventional life at Victory Road.

The fatal blaze engulfed the house as the children slept just hours before Philpott, who was father to a total of 17 children by five different women, and Miss Willis were due to appear at a pre-scheduled court hearing to discuss residency of their children.

He would share a bed with his wife and Miss Willis on alternate nights, and both women were said to have lived happily with one another and the situation for a decade.

But Miss Willis, 29, became unhappy with the domestic set-up three months before the fire and left with her five children, four of whom were fathered by Philpott.
