They wanted it to catch fire properly   so he could be the frikkin hero who saves his kids..... the dumb *think of the worst swear word* never took into account the fumes... the burning varnish on all the paneling up the stairs.... or the toxic fumes from the polystyrene ceiling tiles.... the fact all the bedroom doors were left open.... One saving grace is the poor sleeping kids probably never even knew what was going on

If you were desperate fore insurance money etc, you might hatch a plan, but wouldn't you make sure your children were not in the house?

This pair are a disgrace.

He did it to try to frame his ex mistress apparently?    He's a complete psychopath - he was jailed for attempted murder in 1978 for stabbing his sleeping ex girlfriend 13 times for dumping him.

Nope. Read the link I posted above Jen. You could probably find it differently than me but I'm hoping, in a weird way, that the judge gives her a lesser sentence than that sociopath husband as a result.

Hill, who was 17 at the time, was in bed when he attacked her, knifing her more than a dozen times, before turning on her mother, Shirley, a nurse.

Philpott was convicted of the attempted murder of Hill and of grievous bodily harm in relation to her mother at Nottingham crown court in December 1978.

How the hell did he only get 7 years?

Same here Cosi .

unfortunately not a hope in hell - the system has gone soft and they are well and truly protected these days

look at Ian Huntley - 11 years on and still alive and kicking albeit trying to take his own life - still shows no sign of remorse for what he did and is even privvy to watching Man U games despite knowing that was the shirts Holly and Jessica were wearing when he killed them

I cant find the right words to describe what I think about Huntley and now Philpott - Prison is certainly too good a place for them
