...not that I watch X Factor mind you

Anyway, last night I had the unfortunate pleasure of walking in on the Bee Gees singing on that dancing show what is on BBC ONE. If you could call it singing that is, what on earth was that about? I thought they are meant to be talented performers??!?!?!?!

I have to admit it was bad and I love that song, being only two of them now does not work I actually felt embarrassed for them, as they are very talented singers/song writers

I was so disappointed and quite sad. I love the Bee Gees, but Barry has really lost it. His voice was all over the place.

Some of the singing guests in this series of SCD should have been better advised.

Sadly true.
When Maurice Gibb died, there were some unkind comments implying that he was the least talented brother. Although it was true that Barry and Robin competed for lead vocals and were (comparatively) more successful songwriters, that rather missed the point.

I remember Paul Gambaccini saying at the time that Maurice's death meant that we would never again hear that unique Bee Gees sound: he was right.
The Bee Gees wrote their songs to take full advantage of their combined voices, and that includes Maurice's harmonizing. Remove one pillar, and the whole edifice collapses...

I agree - much as I love the show the live acts have been dire this year and TBH even Barry had an embarrassed look about him I thought

The sight of my absolute singing hero, Andy Willimas in sneakers and velour top on SCD is burned into my brain

... why don't family or friends tell them to retire gracefully. Same with the BGees last night, dear God it made me feel so sad.
