I find this whole Nadia episode rather depressing...

While I am not TG myself I have a friend who is, she's a lovely person who has met with a lot of abuse and as a result spends most of her life reclusive.

Cheap transphobic laughs on a programme like BB just doesn't help.

And to me.... the issue is broader than Transgenderism, it's about tolerance in our society imo, I'd pesonally like to live in a more tolerant society.

I believe her comments were "boyish good looks"? I don't want to get drawn into an argument about Nadia, but imo that was not a nasty comment and I still do not see what all the fuss is about. That's all I am going to say on the subject now because we all have differing opinions and mine is certainly not going to change but I respect your opinion.
Ok, so how would you feel if someone said WOW LL you have lush boyish good looks? (again, never mind the fact Nadia has struggled her whole life to escape this) or are you just having your opinion and unable to answer the question put to you?

Why would Davina think that 'boyish good looks' was an appropriate compliment for a woman... gotta say, I'd be a bit miffed if someone said that to me.... and I haven't spent my entire life trying to simply get people to accept me as female.

In précis,  Davina is a numpty

Not sure that's a terribly meaningful idea. Whether Davina was sincere or not I have no idea but people apologise for things they don't feel any need to all the time. It happens in public (and private) life on a daily basis
Na, Davina apologised because she had to be seen to be doing the right thing, because what she said was stupid, out of order, and wrong. Davina might not have been sincere, but that is irrelevant IMO.
Monobrow (Sam is a legend)
I wonder if the people who can't see it is a nasty comment can consider that if she had said 'boyish good looks of Caoimhe' that would not be an insult/nasty cos Caoimhe was born a women, is all women, yet does look a tad androgynous..  and may well accept that she does too.. so not find it an insult.. maybe?

yet someone who has struggled to get the body they feel they should have been born with and discard the one they were given would obviously find it upsetting and nasty?

but then again she wouldn't have said 'boyish good looks of Caoimhe' cos it wouldn't have the same impact as her original statement was meant to have..  or else why say it?

dunno if I am making a good enough point there. .it's all jumbled in my head and won't come out properly. .I need the wordsmiths to help me out I think

maybe I should just go mow my lawn which I have been putting off all morning..

What you've just described is apology for public relations.  Now that is meaningless.

Disliking someone doesn't mean they are fair game for bigotry.

People are free to slag off Nadia's personality as much as they like without resorting to cheap, brainless jibes about her gender.

Also, if the article is to be believed, Endermol have not denied that Colio made those remarks and I find it unacceptable that he was allowed to do it on more that one occasion. He should have been shown the door immediately and not after three warnings.

yer, I didnt answer coz I thought it was a silly question given what this thread is about

why was it a silly question I am asking you do you know for a fact she made an apology or are you just going on the say so of a daily rag

Olly you'll make me heid swell

Davina said it for one reason only, to get a cheap laugh.  I don't think any subject is out of bounds for comedy, it's not the subject matter it's the way it's handled...and the motivation.

Davina's motivation was "Nadia used to be a man, isn't that funny, hahahaha"....it's cheap, lazy, unkind and facile.

No you don't Olly - I completely get your point... and was trying to think of a way to word it myself!
I got Olly's point too and she made it well.

I am now thinking about the waffles with syrup from the stand near the log flume at Blackpool

Davina McCall has offered an apology to Almada for a joke she made about her "boyish" looks onBig Brother's Big Mouth, while a spokesperson for the show has insisted that she will be given help by their "extensive welfare team".

The rep added: "With 24 hours' worth of material to turn into 60 minutes, not everything will feature in the highlights shows. We try to show a balanced and fair representation of all housemates."

The last statement make Endermol look even  bigger tools

Davina is now just a charicature, spoiled by championing BBBM and looking for 'edgey' but finding 'wanky'.
she thinks she is proper cool and down wit da kidz.... when she's as cool as your pissed up uncle dancing at a wedding

In respect of Coolio's behaviour, I can't say I was impressed with it but saw nothing particularly wrong.  I found the fact that Nadia wiped herself over his bed covers, far more offensive and she should've be asked to leave because of that.  Imo, of course.
So you do not see anything wrong with Coolio constantly harassing Nadia as to whether she has a penis  or not? You do not see anything wrong with him asking the other women ( which has been confirmed) if they would put their hands up Nadia's dress to check? That is okay with you?

Nadia was showing her contempt of him by wiping her genitalia over his bedsheets because HE was the one who had the problem with it.

This is nothing to do with being PC. Coolio sexually harassed Nadia in the basest way possible and I can completely understand why she took the action she did.

IMO of course.

why was it a silly question BECAUSE!!!!! regardless of if she said sorry, if she didnt say sorry, if she meant it, or if she didnt mean it...THAT is what this thread is about???

i'll take that as a no then

I will take it as a you dont have owt better to do than TRY and argue a point that isnt actually there to argue....The thread is about Davina apologising....EVERYONE in this thread is discussing that (and nadias gender) whats so hard to grasp there?
Monobrow (Sam is a legend)
If people are so secure in their dislike for Nadia, based upon her personality then they don't need to bring her past into it, it's irrelevant and just cheapens any point they have to make.

If they feel it's ok to drag it up, to be spiteful about it then that suggests to me that they do see her as "A Transgendered person" before "A person"...once you're in the business of dehumanising folk, you've lost a compassion chip somewhere.
