Yes him and Lisa both were, she was a tad more crass and called it " the dunce class"
The jury is still out with David for me, i can't decide whether he's playing a game or being genuine.. Lisa on the other hand is a sh1t-house - never once stuck up for 'her mate' in the day of rows in the house..She's always 'going' to say something but it never quite comes out ..

Lisa is in her 40s when she was in school it was probably called the dunce class even by the teachers.

At least he was honest about it - unlike Madam Bea who, when in the bath remarked 'how he (David) was not the sharpest tool in the box' to Siavash who did attempt to remind her that David does know a lot of stuff on the things he's interested in; it fell on Bea's deaf ears tho'. Roll Eyes Mad

Bea may think she is clever but she wouldn't know what humility meant. She was equally unkind when she said she didn't want her taxes paying Lisa's benefits. Lisa as only been unemployed a few months and as probably paid more taxes than Bea ever will.

I know! The madam! Mad I've always liked David. Don't start on the fact she accuses him of interrupting people, what did she do to Marcus' conversation with David last night? Eeker I'm glad Marcus pointed it out to her too. Thumbs Up

I dont think he is anything like Brian Belo. There doesn't seem to be any harm in David, he is a young old queen. He isn't on my 'not liking' list, which is unfortunately growing by the day.

Erm ................ yes Ninja

Sorry, but I'm not going to become all PC and pretend that I didn't suss a couple of weeks back that he was in remedial classes, and neither will I do anything similar about Lisa's admission that they were called 'Dunce Classes' in her school - which I actually find repellant and appalling, BTW.

I think that David does display some signs of learning difficulties, but I don't think that Lisa does, as by her own admission 'I didn't bother to listen at school'

I think that she does display huge amounts of intelligence and if she harnessed it in a positive direction - who knows what she could achieve, or become?

Oh and before I forget, I also think she's really naturally good-looking and she looks cute when she smiles - which is not often enough, unfortunately Wink

At many other times when I see her, she looks as if she's got a bag of spanners in her gob Mad

I don't think that they're good for each other, but they cling together because of what's happened to them in the past.

They'd both benefit from clinging to the coat-tails of someone who can 'bring them on' and make them a better representation of what they currently are.

IMO only Wink

Horses for courses.
You found Dave's conversation about being in the remedial class amusing,I found it touching. There are millions like him who may intellectually struggle but that doesn't give anyone including Beatch the right to use that against them or mock them .

The Hms did an IQ test before entering the house and Lisa was the lowest of them all i think she her score was only 55.

Errrmmmm............. what?????

"Huge amounts of intelligence?" relative to an amphibian perhaps. Lisa's claims to be intelligent were laughable. She can barely communicate in English and her social skills are negligible.

"Good-looking?" What????? Relative to the same amphibian she can outsmart? She has the ugliest expressions of anyone in the house, and that is a large portion of someone being good looking for me. I think her heavily tatooed body demonstrate deep down what she thinks of her natural appearance. She is yuck!!!!!!!

Bit nasty and has certainly made me think about when I call others 'thick'

Not usually their fault and I should know better.

I'd never call David 'thick' for example, because I think (could be wrong) that he does have learning difficulty.

But the likes of Sophie (forgive me) had no interest whatsoever in learning because she'd already set herself a 'career-path' at an early age, which led to her having breast augmentation by the age of 20.

Some may say 'good on her! She knew what she wanted and went for it!'

But I wouldn't.

If she was my daughter, I'd have encouraged her to believe that she's more, so much more than something for others to stare at - for all the wrong reasons.

In any event, I have 2 older brothers so even if I wanted to get my baps out for a living (which I never did!) it SERIOUSLY was not an option for me Big Grin

And anyway, I'd never have done that to my mum and the rest of my family.

But, it takes all kinds so I'm not standing in judgement. Its just not something that would not ever be countenanced in my family - and I've got some seriously beautiful and fit neices!

Lisa would have been in secondary school the same time as I was. It was called 'the focused learning unit' at my school. In the last 2 years 'tflu' were taken to trade schools or fun days whilst we were doing course work. Used to moan like hell about it, thought it was really unfair that we didn't get to have driving lessons or learn how to paint and hang wallpaper. Obviously you realise, whilst we were being prepped for college and uni, they were being prepped for work.

I am the same age as Lisa and the slow learners were never given lessons like that at my school. They were just given lower level reading and writing lessons or ignored.

I don't think he's like Brian Belo either - he completely fakes the 'Oh, I'm stupid' act. David obviously wasn't that bright at school - doesn't make him the idiot that Belo is. Oh, and I'm in my 40's too (still.... just!) and it was called the remedial class when I was at school - the kids may have called it the dunce's class, can't really remember.

I don't mind David that much.

What a brilliant idea .......that makes sense. I dont know why every single kid is forced down the 'academic' route TBH .........we all have different skills and should be helped and guided accordingly IMO.

Children should be trained for what they are able to do. Without unskilled labour most companies wouldn't be able to function.

I think Daves basically alright, all though I do think the food bandit allegations could have some truth. He is well intentioned and it has to be said that he stuck with Lisa even knowing she is not liked by the public. He could easily of played it safe and attached himself to Freddie or Siavash, but he chose to stick with Lisa who he had met and liked before.

They're trying to make education more appropriate for all with the option for the 14-19 (vocational) Diploma, aren't they. About time too. At last they've realised they've been square-pegging round holes for years and that kids shouldn't leave school with low self-esteem and no qualifications simply because they're not academically oriented.

Don't think it was the norm, my cousins went to school down the road and they didn't have anything like 'tflu' either. There was a few school's in the Manchester area that did it, think they were all Catholic, but not 100% sure of that.

But, intellectually, he's no match for a Bea who's firing on all cylinders. She knows this & still humiliated him.........she should have been above that

Having heard him talking to Lisa a few times.. and particularly on the HL show the other night when he was talking about Marcus and him being quite capable of handling him because he is a 'feisty queen'.. I have no doubt that David is perfectly capable of giving as good as he gets. Even against someone with a seemingly superior vocabulary. It's just he seems to choose not to when it comes down to it. I find that preeeeeetty interesting.

Imo, he's gone in as the Brian Belo character.. the daft, loveable one who views BB and the experience with childlike wonder.. getting at him would be like getting at a defenceless puppy. Except he isn't..

It's also interesting that he allies himself with one of the most acidic and toxic members of the house.. and that is after having the benefit of seeing some of the earlier BB (when interestingly she was at her worst).. water, levels and all that.

The Hms did an IQ test before entering the house and Lisa was the lowest of them all i think she her score was only 55.
IQ, or Intelligence Quotient, only measures certain kinds of intellect - mostly academic. I have a reasonably high IQ (think its about 125 and will dig-out my MENSA scoresheet that I did as part of my PGDip in Mangagement Studies. Was also Myers Brigged and can drag that out of the loft if anyone's remotely interested?) and can assure you that none of the questions asked have anything at all to do with music, art, literature or any other things that many of those we admire and revere - or actually excel at.

I'd have gotten a far higher score if there were more 'arty farty' questions, and I was shocked at the score I DID get because I don't really 'see' numbers like many really 'clever people' (as I perceive them as being)do.

Oh, I can do my times tables, long division/multipliation, fractions, algebra, percentages etc - even logarithyms, sines, cosines, once I know the formula.

I have been able to understand Pythagoras Theorem, since the first time it was told to me - but only because it related to words.

'The square on the Hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the quare on the other two sides'

I could only work it out because the words meant something. Not because Maths means anything at all to me, because it doesn't - much to the disgust of my Father.

All it meant, is that once you've established the length of the longest side of an an equilateral triangle and then squared it - it would be equal to the total of the of the other two sides of of the same triangle, squared.

But it only means anything to me in words - not numbers. And my own Father couldn't understand that so I'd be shocked if any of you do LOL!

If all of the brilliantly genius Greek Mathematicians, like Pythagora, could express themselves like he could (and we STILL use his and the theorems of many other of his ilk, thousands of years on) then I think many more of us would be able to engage in this subject - rather than be afraid of it, like I was, mostly.

I bet you've all fallen to sleep? PMSL! You are forgiven xxx
