So, he's hardly PhD material, but v subtley and cleverly dropping hints to undertake the task and for e.g. making out how 'nice' Charlie and Lisa etc. are but not mentioning/bitching about Freddie and Noirion. At the same time he's ingratiating himself with all of the 'oldies' , and slagging off Tom to make sure that if it the task doesn't work, the 'oldies' won't nominate him.
