Had a surprise visit from the council this morning at 9-00 o'clock 

Just having me brekkie and taking me meds. They had come to replace the skirting board around the newly plastered chimney breast. It looks great. Good job indeed  

Gonna start packing the stuff that is in the glass cabinet by the front room door so the carpet is ready to be lifted

I see the old fivers have finally finished being legal tender though you can still exchange them at your bank, building society or post office

Great news about the skirting  You have my sympathy about the packing up for the carpet ...I don't want to go through that again any time soon !!!

Oh they're loving it Baz.  Cian has actually requested to go to an after-school club (bell-boating) and is actually enjoying it, so that's a first  Also, Caitlin has started Brownies and is loving that!
