I am ok ....docs confirmed the infection.....as if I didn't know ! Given me another couple of days antibiotics , just to be on safe side.....and saw GD ...who now has a house rabbit  

Little We had to go and pick up a cage etc. today .....took some getting in our tiny car  

  Oh how cute - they are soooo sweet aren't they xx

 

What are you up to tomorrow?

Yes Got a good deal on cage ....£60 all in ....with house , bedding , food etc.

Evening all (Or good morning by the time you read this)

 

Sorry I haven't been about all week. The new term, plus drama at home has kept me ridiculously busy. 

 

A quick(ish) update....

 

A couple of days after we accepted the Haz thing was gonna be permanent (and bought all the furniture and fittings to kit out the spare room as a bedroom), Haz then decided she was moving down to Bristol to live with her Dad. 

 

When she told me, it was mixed feelings. Sadness that she would be moving so far away, mixed with relief at the thought at getting my life back to it's relatively quiet normality. I did not realise how much I had been desperately trying to convince myself that taking responsibility for someone else's teenage girl was something I was happy to take on....until the moment I was relieved of it.  I was obviously just trying to make the best of situation that I felt was out of my control. 

 

Fast forward a few days.... her Dad is picking her up tomorrow afternoon, so tonight I took her and Duds out for a "farewell" meal. When we got home, she started to have a last minute panic and hints that she may change her mind and stay with me after all. She tells her Dad she's not sure, he gets all upset and isn't very understanding of her last minute nerves. I'm all in a panic when I suddenly see my return to normality slipping away. 

 

So, to cut a veeeeery long story short. I contact her Dad and explain to him how I think she is feeling (emotional and overwhelmed after all the goodbyes to her friends and her younger siblings), and tell him to get his act together and be supportive! I'm truthful with Haz and tell her that I think she needs to give it a go with her Dad. 

 

Waters are smoothed between her and her Dad (miraculously he responded really well to my instructions and suddenly found his sensitive side). 

 

As for me and Haz. I have probably upset her a bit, cos now she knows I'm not going to accept her staying here unconditionally. I feel really crappy and very guilty. 

 

Meanwhile, my sister is at home not giving a crap about what is going on. I went to see her earlier this evening, thinking she may be a bit upset about Haz moving away, and hoping I could convince her to speak to her before she goes, but no, she couldn't care less. 

 

I have absolutely no doubt that I have done the right thing for me (and for Duds). This next year at work is going to be incredibly busy and very very stressful (for various reasons I won't go into now), and I really need my home to be a calm haven if I'm gonna get through it in one piece. I feel so SO sorry for Haz, and really didn't want to let her down and add to her troubles, but I can't help but feel she has two parents out there, and it's only right that one of them take responsibility for her. 

 

Sorry for the long and rambling post, just needed to get it out of my system after a very stressful evening.

Ducky, you are a wonderful, wonderful person and although it's natural to feel guilty in that situation, you don't need to. You've done what's right for her, her dad, and you & duds. I hope everything works out well for her there, and I hope you're ok
