While I was away I was worried it might be something like this. The vets posted a warning to people living on my street because they had 4 cats in over the weekend who had been affected by it. They were asking people to check their cars for leaks, and sheds for open bottles of the stuff etc. I was already planning to go in to the surgery in the morning to ask if they'd had a ginger cat brought in.

I've just been checking the local vets facebook page in case they had any news on Bobs, and apparently he was put down on Sunday night because he had ingested anti-freeze. I'm gutted! They're trying to find the owner, so I will need to ring them in the morning

He was missing from Saturday afternoon, but taken to the vet on Sunday evening, so now I have visions of him being in pain somewhere and not being able to make his way home  

You must be gutted Ducky Is Duds ok ?  

He wouldn't tell me if he wasn't! He's definitely upset though. He would never cry, but I know him well enough to read his face. Bobs was 9 and we've had him from a kitten, so he's gonna be missed

I don't know? It's been two days already? I'm going to go in first thing in the morning. 

I just wish we'd looked for him on Saturday evening now, but we assumed he'd just gone for a long wander, or found someone else willing to feed him, so we didn't really start worrying till Sunday.

It was such a good 'un. I've been reading a Simon Wood book since then...... absolute rubbish. I think it would have been pretty rubbish anyway, but coming straight after that one, has definitely not helped his case

I just hope it wasn't intentional. 

Boston was on the news recently because a lot of cats had been poisoned in the same street, and now this. 

When the vets first put up the anti-freeze warning, they had already seen a few cases from my street, and then yesterday they posted that they had 3 more cats put down over the weekend (so poor Bobs wasn't the only one). So that's at least 6 or 7 now - from one street. 

Duds was laughing at me this morning when I was saying I hope Bobs wasn't one of them.....then I suddenly got all concerned about our favourite cat who lives down the road, who we see every time we walk Pops. He reckons I was more concerned about that cat then Bobs. (I wasn't of course!)

He's awful I read one of his a couple of years ago and wasn't impressed. I bought this one against my better judgement. I was a bit desperate for something new to read and was hoping I had misjudged him

Do you think Slaughter will develop any of  these characters into a series ....or will it remain a stand alone novel ?

aww can't believe it about Bobs - so awful - he was  a lovely cat - remeber him when you painted your garden shed?? - I know he was in your garden

I'm hoping it will be a stand alone, as the poor characters need a break from trauma But I wouldn't mind a new series.  

Is she still carrying on with Will and Sara do we know?  

Anyway, trying to move on from sad things....
