In that case, please steal the sympathy I dished out to Scatts. I'm too exhausted to start over again.

It was productive thanks! I have shopped, gardened, houseworked, walked Pops through the woods - and all this on about 3 hours sleep - thanks to the absent father (of niece) induced stress

Actually - probably 7K tomorrow - I need to start building up  How people ever run a marathon (or even a half) is beyond me

Well tbh, I   was gonna plump for the alternative "she's bloody buts" theory, so it's a good job I checked

  Serves ya right

He's taking advantage of his own daughters difficult situation and trying to reduce maintenance to save himself a measly ÂĢ50 a month.  Honestly, I genuinely think he has no clue how much feeding, clothing and all the rest of it, a teenager costs.

I never thought I was gonna be dragged into bargaining with a psycho when I agreed to all this.

On top of that he's being very difficult about sending Haz her own birth certificate (which she needs to open a bank account) now.

I thought my days of dealing with crappy Dads were long gone. It's a good job I have seen the other extreme happen with my other nieces and nephews, or I would start to think all blokes were the same

Unfortunately it's down to me Baz. He has no direct contact with my sister due to his previous behaviour - and he cancelled his payments to her as soon as he discovered Harriett had moved out. The original plan was for my sister to send it to me. I don't mind him wanting to send it direct to me instead, but unfortunately he didn't want to simply switch it over - he wanted a whole new negotiation first.  Which includes a delightful game of him taking every opportunity he can to wiggle out of paying for her at all.

At the moment he has agreed to pay ÂĢ25 a week. Yay, that's gonna go a long way towards kitting out my spare room as a bedroom, paying for food and extra fuel bill costs, mobile top ups, new school uniform for sixth form, a school bus pass, general clothing costs and pocket money and etc. etc. etc.

He's an arsehole I'm afraid.

My sister isn't an angel, but she has a brilliant relationship with her older children's Dad, who has always seen his children regularly and pays a fair contribution to their upkeep, so I know it's him that is the problem and not my sister. Despite what he keeps trying to tell me.  He blames her for not seeing Haz for the past few years - even when Haz has always been very straight with him and told him the alcohol is the problem.

Anyway...I could grrrrr about this all night if I'm not careful. Lets talk about happier things

Yeah, we will do if we have to I will just never understand difficult people.  Especially ones that say they want to improve their relationship with their child, but do everything that can to sabotage it.

Sounds a nightmare And grrrrrr as much as you like .....

Did you get anything in the mail today ???

Baz

By the way - just in case any of those militant Fathers rights people are reading this, my sister is contributing to her keep as well.

Anyway, I have now told him he needs to send the ÂĢ50 he is trying to wriggle out of paying, directly to Haz instead, so she has pocket money and a bit of independence. Hopefully he will see the benefit in that and stop being difficult.

Mind you, she will need her birth certificate to open a bank account if he does

If he doesn't, it isn't the end of the world really. What's more important is that I've said my piece and told him what I think is right.

I was stressed last night because I didn't want to have to deal with it and was considering just letting it go. My anger at myself for being a walk over was really what was causing me to miss out on sleep. I feel better today for having tackled it.

I do hope you are going to be able to control yourself on the day Bazzy. No one wants to see a bear with runny black mascara eyes

Oooh! Maybe you need to dress up as a panda for the day!

I will try to hang on until the speeches

Oooh! Good point.

You can sometimes buy individual slices of wedding type fruit cake in the shops. I'm gonna get one for the big day. In fact I might REALLY go for it and build myself a marquee for one in the garden that day
