I have a hair appointment in the afternoon and then we're going out for tea with my sister. A belated birthday tea. But not with the one I supposed to be having a birthday tea with (hope you're keeping up)

We leave on Tuesday!

I can't decide whether to tell Duds about the gliding. If I tell him now, he gets a chance to be excited about it and look forward to the trip (at the moment he's not that impressed with my plans.....cos he thinks it mainly involves just looking at pretty scenery ) but potentially he may get all anxious about the human contact, so leaving it for a surprise on the day, will avoid giving him time to worry about that side of things.  But then leaving it gives him a proper birthday surprise on the day of course But I can't decide if that's good or bad.

Yes , I follow you ! As for Duds , difficult one .......if he is going to get anxious then perhaps best to leave it til the day ....or maybe hedge your bets and do it the day before ?

Hmmm, yeah, that's not a bad idea He already thinks I'm a bit nuts for having booked an extra night. He can't see the point At least if I tell him then he can shut the hell up and just enjoy it

There ya go then .....not long for him to get anxious , but enough time to get excited

Aeroplane gliding. He's interested in both, but the aeroplane gliding turned out to be easier to organise for the date/location when I looked into it. Also, he can continue to do it around here if he wished to. Hang gliding is a bit more difficult in the fens

He's gonna be 23...so not particularly as special one, but I'm determined to make it a good one! Last year was rubbish for him. My mum died the day after, so he spent the whole day in the hospital on his birthday. And he was such a trooper!

Believe it or not, he's looked into it and it can be done! You have to get dragged up into the air that's all. A bit like paragliding I suppose

I know far more about hang gliding and gliding than I ever wanted to, thanks to his obsession with it. Maybe I shouldn't be encouraging this
