I'll judge it on the skating too - but Samia's coming across like a girl who is easily swayed when she sees a new pretty thing...

Afternoon trivia time! Which one of this year's contestants starred in a school production of 101 Dalmatians on ice when they were just five years old?

After weeks of training, we finally got a preview of the results of this year's celebrity contestants' hard work, as they skated their hearts out in the dress rehearsals.

So while our ice hopefuls are biting their nails backstage, take a sneak peek at what you can expect to see on the first live show by checking out the pictures above...

Shayne looks deep in concentration as he takes partner Maria for a spin

Okay Matt, we're impressed! The former Eastenders actor proves he's come a long way from Albert Square as he lifts skating partner Brianne like a pro

Samia and Sylvain coordinate their colours for rehearsals, but if the Corrie actress has her way, she'll be wearing yellow when it comes to her live performances: she believes it's her lucky colour

Pamela has steered away from the ice since she was a child (after an embarassing fall in a school play!), but we would never have known: it looks like she's been in the rink for years!

Keith's dancing partner Olga Sharutenko looked proud of her protege as they practised their routine ready for their first live TV ice dance of the series

And we're back! Dancing on Ice 2013 kicks off tonight with a brand new batch of 12 hopeful celebrity contestants all raring to get in the rink. They've clocked hours and hours of training time and rehearsals, and now is the moment they put their new skating skills to the test in front of the judges in the first live show.

Tune in tonight, 6th January at 6.15pm on ITV1 to find out who's fantastic and who's a flop on the ice - and until then, flick through the pictures about to preview what kind of stunts you can expect to see this evening...

Samia and Sylvain's lift got a thumbs up from us in rehearsals - but can it earn one from the judges?

Anthea beams as she finishes a successful run-through of her first routine. Let's see if it goes so well tonight..

Beth and skating pro partner Daniel bow out after their rehearsal performance, as Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean look on in the background. Did they wow the skating legends? Find out as they skate live tonight!

Robin, Karen, Jason and new girl Ashley get ready to fix their critical eyes on this year's contestants...

Pamela and Matt are having fun in the dry run, but will they be so relaxed when they're live on TV? Find out tonight at 6.15pm, ITV1!
