Don't know anything about Cyprus Hoochie but hope you have a fantastic time
baz ......Our hotel is in/near Limassol .
ooooo we stayed at one there..... a Thompson Gold... adults only hotel.... it was great
This one is a Thomson Couples .....no kids! Atlantica Bay
Where would you recommend for a day out?
Hooch we stayed at the Atlantica Bay hotel in Paphos, also thomsons, it was fab.
Our flight home was delayed for twelve hours so we were dropped off at the Atlantica Bay for the day - it was very nice (so much better than the hotel we'd been staying in). All in all our stay in Cyprus was lovely though in spite of a ten hour delay going out and a twelve hour delay coming back - we only went for a week. I'd go back again tomorrow but Mr Woo was a bit put off with the travel disruptions - it kind of tainted his memory.
Thanks for the tip Cinds - the boat trip sounds like the sort of thing I'd really enjoy!
Have a good one you lucky sod
Thanks erin I'll try ...... the signs are hopeful!
We went some years ago on a late deal (allocation on arrival) wouldnt do that again - the hotel wasn't up to much but the resort itself was lovely (Paphos) I'd go again without a doubt but would look for a better hotel. Lovely people, lovely restaurants and great beaches.
Have a lovely holiday!
Thanks Soozy - It's really good that everyone is saying pretty much the same thing. I'm really pleased 'cause it isn't somewhere we'd ever thought of going
I love Cyprus. My late husband and I went 3 times and we used to stay at the Penera Beach hotel,Protaras. We traveled all over the Island by car,but usually made sure we were back at base by the evening as the roads weren't up to scratch. Hopefully they are better now.
We went on a mini cruise to Israel and Egypt, that was fantastic, but, I don't know if that is feasible now what with all the bother in that part of the world.
You will love it Hoochie, Cyprus has something for everyone. Have a really good time, can't wait for you to come back and tell us about your adventures.
Sezit -thank you, I'll be sure to post a couple of pics when I get back. Good point about the roads - I'll be sure we keep it in mind to make sure we actually do get back!
I'm liking the sound of boat trips ....I do enjoy that sort of thing and it's something we will definitely investigate
The divided city of Nicosia is interesting and well worth a visit, in my opinion. While we were there they had just opened up the border and we we able to cross from the Greek side to the Turkish side, passing through the UN patrolled 'no-man's land' (which is quite strange in itself as it has remained untouched since the war in the 1970s (?) and you can still see the boarded up hotels etc with the sandbags and bullet holes. We went two or three years back so things may have changed since then.
Avalon! I'm sure we'll try to have a trip to Nicosia while we're there, a colleague at work mentioned it as well today and she found it fascinating.
yes I have been telling everyone, after the great comments last night I'm thinking about this holiday in a whole new light!
If you are going in a couple of weeks the weather shouldn't be too hot. It can get unbearably hot in the summer months. I hadn't realised how close it was to the Middle East until some friends told me they went shopping in Beirut.
Have a great time!
Don't know anything about Cyprus Hoochie but hope you have a fantastic time
Awww ta rosie!
Hoochie, You do know it is called "The Island Of Love" don't you? It is Aphrodites birthplace, and one of my most happiest/enduring memories is of the view of her birthplace, with the sun sparkling on the brilliant blue sea. One of the most beautiful sights I have ever witnessed. It is a place of happy memories for me and when I feel a bit blue I think myself back there. So be careful you don't come home pregmumt.
