Okay this is a boring subject so huge apologies for those who thought it might be some dramatic death thread ( i.e it'll be curtains for you .,....), neither is it a thread which celebrates the curtains haircut so loved by young popstars in the 90's.

No this really is a thread about curtains and how flipping hard it is to buy them.

All I want is a nice pair of blue curtains for my sitting room.Width 228 cm from end to end of curtain pole and drop 137 cm ( 66 inches in old money).

Well according to Paul Simon and Dunelm mill you can't get that drop anymore - 72inches is the nearest and that is too long.

Am I going mad? Could you not, once, go into a shop and just buy what you want without having to wait for alterations etc.

And I am pretty sure that you could buy 66 inch drop once upon a time.

I told you it was boring - in fact I have bored myself writing it... so tell me of your retail frustrations. Things that should be easy and straight forward  to buy and never are.

That is, if you are still awake...

M and S do them but sadly I did not like the colours....

72 inch is just that bit too long and 54 not long enough.

Ludicrous

We have Curtains by Karen round these parts - she has converted her dining room into a sewing room, you supply the material and she makes them.

I have just had a thought which is embarrassing.,....

I have a good friend who said she would alter any curtains I needed altering...

BUT it is still irksome

EDIT: If you just type in 'curtains' followed by the dimensions you need something should come up.

I will have a look on e bay. I am also trying to find a glass table and chairs -despite what certain Rexi type people say...

Yeah, that's it. It's annoying that you have to pay extra for the extra material and then take them up

If that's what you want go for it. Everyone's tastes are different

Yes ... but some have soooo much more taste than others

Well actually, my argument with glass tables is that they require so much cleaning (not my forte)

Well, you should have asked Art Garfunkel, everyone knows he was the curtain man in that duo

Sorry Issy, no help whatsoever

He would have just told me that I had Bright Eyes though

That's as may be, but better if they could 'Keep the Customer Satisfied' ?

I hate buying curtains too.... I go for the 'artistically draped pool on the floor' look     (i mean the fabric.. not a puddle)
