I would like one of your sandwiches but I've just eaten. Not mushroom left
Does it get rid of the killer bug by washing them?
That report is very light on details about how risky it is to eat them or how much we are in risk in the UK.
Think it is Spanish Cucumbers.Imported into Germany.......Buy UK Cucumbers, you should be anyway, least then they can speak the language when you sue them for killing you off.............
Knowing the UK farming industry they probably wash the E Coli off by pissing on them on the way oot the door.

So do I. I just have a great deal of contempt for a great many British farmers. It's a high wire act but I just about pull it off.

"Most of the deaths have been in northern Germany. The E coli pathogen has been identified on cucumbers imported from Spain but it is unclear if they were contaminated there, during transport or in Germany. There are 36 cases of suspected E coli in Sweden, all linked to travel in northern Germany. A small number of cases have been reported in Britain, Denmark, France and the Netherlands, all linked with travel to Germany."
Sounds like the contamination probably happenend in Germany.
So, homegrown (UK) cucumbers should be okay.
It's a good excuse for postponing a diet.
I remember the days when veg was sold loose and dirty(Spuds, carrots etc)Everything is now washed and wrapped in plastic.

I boycotted Morrisons when they took over Safeway after walking in and discovering they were shrink-wrapping single red peppers. WTF is the point in that?! It's already got a ****ing skin.
Asda isn't too bad they do sell loose peppers, tatties etc.I never shove the peppers into poly bags or the carrots,I just plonk them on the conveyer belt at the checkout.
oh bugger, I forgot about this - there was cucumber in the salad I ate at lunchtime

Ditto. Just daft when you see someone pick up 2 jacket potatoes and put them in a plastic bag - which will then go in another plastic bag at the till.
Small plastic bag in veg section, carrier bag at till.
Is it safe if it's not taken orally?

It was on the 5pm news on R2.
The Germans say that the e coli causing the illness is a different strain to the one found on a few cucumbers.
The Spanish reckon it's caused 'em 170 megapoond damage and are threatening to sue.

Germans now admitting it's got nowt to do with Spanish Cucumbers etc.Spain is not amused as their veg etc is abandoned.
Have they found out the cause, or are they blaming it on the Courgettes?

As I understand it, it's currently a uniquely German outbreak (all cases reported in other countries are of people who've recently travelled from Germany). Sounds like they need to look closer to home for the source...

I hope for your sake they don't end up tracing the infection back to a sauce-bottling plant, though...
