ps EC.. it's pretend not real, it uses literary licence a lot
...and here's me thinking it's a documentary.
the problem is that a lot of people take it seriously, and it's had an adverse effect on many real life cases as a result:

I have a big problem with CSI and similar shows for the way they misrepresent the science and reality of crime investigations. I've heard from real forensic scientists who are frustrated by constantly having to explain to juries why (for example) it takes so long to get DNA results back ("But we know from TV that you can get them immediately!" ).
I think Charlie Brooker summed it up best when he pointed out that CSI and similar, supposedly "realistic", TV shows often rely on technology and techniques so advanced that they're effectively science fiction...
Yes, good post.
And you can add to your list of real forensic examiners who can be at best mildly irritated and at worst annoyed by the unrealistic portrayal of police/forensic work.
Example: EC I have a video still from a CCTV camera of a suspect and their car, can you please blow up the picture so I can see the number plate and the suspect's face?
The response: Yes, if you give me the technology found in Minority Report, other than that you will get 12 graphical blocks on screen varying in shade from black to white!
You then get a blank look as they want to say, but don't "I've seen it on TV where you can blow up pictures...".
