Remarkable day for England – I’m out of superlatives – and those that I can find simply fail to reflect the magnitude of the beating inflicted upon Australia!

The job is not yet completed but a first innings lead of 300+ would surely place Australia in an impossible position – bye bye Ashes and bye bye Michael Clarke.

Despite the crushing defeat of Australia I think England still have several personnel issues that need addressing:

*Graeme Swann has still not been replaced sufficiently – Moeen Ali has done well with the bat but is clearly not a frontline Test spinner.

*Are Adam Lyth and Jos Butler good enough batsmen at Test level?

*Who will be our long-term No.3?

I agree with all that CS...it's ok winning the Aussies on our soil, we need to sort out some issues  Not taking it away from the guys, they did extremely well

I doubt they will tinker for the final Test unless someone is injured – so those that have under-performed (individually) should get at least another chance to shine.

Lyth, opening the innings averages 12.28 for the series with a top score of 37 – in perspective; Michael Clarke is averaging more, has a better highest score and has scored more runs during the series thus far. Lyth could really do with a big score at the Oval.

Whilst I really enjoyed this brilliant victory ....I listen to TMS everywhere I go...its all over too soon

Agree that Lyth and Butler need to prove themselves and we need a top class spinner, you couldnt ask for better after the misery of that 5/0 defeat in Oz.

England and Wales's fielding was amazing....that Ben Stokes is shaping up to be a major all rounder for the future and Wood seems like another young talent. The future looks promising.

I agree that the spinner is a bit of a problem.  We have a difficult winter ahead of us in South Africa and before that we are playing Pakistan.  (So many Test series these days).

I think that Buttler will be OK.  Not sure about Lyth
