As Josie told the minister that she regretted choosing JJ and Andrew in today's face-to-face nominations, David remained unsympathetic and told her that she had "made a mistake" and must deal with the consequences. He then turned to John James's unexpected reprieve.

Talking about the Australian receiving no nominations, he said: "It's hypocrisy, that's what it is. He's gotten three or four votes every week, and now that it's in front of him no-one wants to vote for him.

"Why? Because they don't want to be put up as the ones that voted for him, and they don't want confrontation with him."

Heading into the kitchen, David related the conversation to Mario, saying that people had purposefully avoided nominating John James to his face. "The same people in the house here have been here for the last however many weeks. Someone's been voting for him. Or is it the Invisible Man slipping in there?"

Later, David expressed his opinions to John James in the bedroom. John James agreed, saying: "I was standing there with my arms wide open, you know. If you want to bang me up, bang me up. Nothing should have changed up there. I had no problem going up, I wanted to go up fairly."

He added: "I'd prefer it to be done face-to-face, because if you have a problem you can talk about it. It doesn't need to be an argument, it doesn't have to be aggressive."

David suggested that Josie's nomination of JJ had "opened it up" for housemates to nominate the boxer instead of John James. The 24-year-old replied: "If Josie would have got the ball rolling with me, I would have been up. Definitely

Was that a sly and not -so-subtle accusation Dave? Trying to trap Mario?
No conversation Dave has with Mario can be taken at face value. Duplicitous is the word.
