They're moving Corrie from Wednesday nights!!! That's just so wrong....

Never mind though - it leaves plenty of room for footie. Apparently Thursday night is to be the new 'soap night' - including a revamped version of The Bill. Scottish Television have decided not to show The Bill though - saving the money to spend on 'home produced' telly. Now.. I don't watch The Bill, so I don't care about that, but, PLEEEEEEASE, no more River City type crap!

Yeah, that's right - first time it's ever moved from Wednesday night since it started in 1960.

It was originally on Wenesdays and Fridays. They moved the Friday one to Monday.
But we didn't moan on about it in those days, we just got on with it. You 'ad to.

I always thought it was a Monday & Wednesday only show up until the 80's when Friday was introduced, then didn't they start going out on a Sunday.

Was it launched as a Friday & Wednesday show Joe. I didn't get into it until the 70's.

If my memory serves me well, yes!
I watched it from the very begining.

My earliest memory is Ken Barlow's
first wife getting electrocuted, not sure what year that actually was. I think it was in B & W though.

The thing that sticks in my mind is Elsie Tanner having a stand up row with Mrs Sharples in the street.

I don't remember her, but I know it was in the snug, When we got our first coloured TV, the first show on was Corrie, Elsie Tanner with her mad orange hair, mind you, it took us a year to realise we could turn the colour down.

There were three pals... Ena Sharples, Martha Longhurst, and Minnie Caldwell.

I was in my local pub one New Year's Eve and one of the Old Boys had shuffled off our mortal coil during the evening. Luckily, it was noticed before midnight otherwise we might have all cross arms to sing Auld Langs Wotsits, nudged him, and been horrified when he slumped and headbutted the table. Phew.
