It's nice for a holiday, I am far from convinced about living on one full time

Good move…costs are reasonable 🥰👍

I've only been to Beccles as far as I can remember, and that was just choosing a direction to travel on the broads. It wasn't planned, but it was lovely

yes circumstances made buying a barge the best option
@Baz posted:Not sure about having a toddler on a floating home
They seem to do ok round here, but most of the houseboats are floating mansions🤣

It's true honestly, when you're young and tipsy most of the time on holiday, you don't notice crossing county borders

Goes without saying 🤣🤣🤣🤣

cheap , once you have the barge..a couple of thousand a year berthing with electric point. You only have your electric bill
@Kaytee posted:They seem to do ok round here, but most of the houseboats are floating mansions🤣
yes -those are very expensive -anything up from a barge is apparently-didn't know much about it until my work friend was buying one
@Rocking Ros Rose posted:yes circumstances made buying a barge the best option
And the mooring costs are much smaller than council tax etc…..and connected to the mains…..lots have log burners for heating in the winter

Yes, a friend of mine owns one, he pays just over 2 thousand for his berth, I'm sure in cities it must be a bit higher though

still, it must be a far cheaper option for them

Think it’s 350; a month on the Thames through the environment agency….but some houses with moorings let them out cheaper
