What I can't get my head around is.....gas is gas and it all comes from the same place same as leccy and same as milk comes from cows. So why are we all charged differently for it

we only have ours on for 1/2 hours in the morning and  7 hours at night - but been switching it off when I have got in - not on here at the mo and never through the night  - and not cheap
