well done Giffgaff and the people that voted for it
GiffGaff members will be donating nearly ÂĢ400,000 to homeless charity Crisis this Christmas following the data outage last week.
The phone company, a VPN which uses the O2 network, on Monday confirmed a goodwill fund of ÂĢ1,000,000 as compensation to customers. But thousands of users asked to instead donate their refunds to vulnerable people, so GiffGaff gave those affected the choice to do so. The company said more than a million people voted, and hundreds of thousands decided to pass on any compensation incurred and to send it to Crisis, which works to provide food and shelter to rough sleepers.
