Evening Baz

Day was ok thanks, brother much the same. I had a chat with Janice (nurse) she said he was tested by the speech therapist and all foods must not be liquidised and drinks thickened (apparently they do the tests, Lynds also told me that). His mobility is much worse... and you know the next phase.

How was your day ?

His swallowing ability isn't the same Baz and he doesn't realise he's got to chew, so food is liquidised. They are thickening his fluids because he's coughing a lot when he drinks fluids and because of his swallowing they don't want liquid going into his lungs and causing pneumonia.

Yes, I realised why it was being liquidised ...just couldn’t work out why they advised not to....but now it makes sense

If their brain is telling them to chew it's fine, that part of his brain seems to have stopped working  He can't have a peg so when he stops eating altogether it will be fluids only
