  1. Mix one (1) tablespoon of liquid dishwashing detergent with two (2) cups of cool water.
  2. Using a clean white cloth, sponge the stain with the detergent solution.
  3. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 until the stain disappears.
  4. Sponge with cold water and blot dry to remove the detergent solution.

In regards of.......I knocked it off the end of the TV dinner table 

On to the carpet ? 

Yep, I have a lovely tea plate size yellowish colour stain on my oatmeal colour Berber carpet 

Oh noooo Hopefully Dames trick will get it out ....I usually blot it with some kitchen roll too
