PRETORIA- The Supreme Court in Bloemfontein has set down one day in early November to hear the state's appeal of convicted murdererOscar Pistorius’ sentence.

The High Court in Pretoria handed the disgraced athlete six years behind bars for murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

Pistorius shot her on Valentines Day in 2013, claiming he believed she was an intruder.

This will be the second time the state is appealing the Pistorius case after successfully having his culpable homicide conviction overturned and replaced with one of murder.

The State argues that the former athlete’s six-year sentence is shockingly inappropriate for the crime of murder.

The National Prosecuting Authority will argue that Pistorius should have been handed the minimum term of 15 years behind bars.

The blade runner has been moved to the Atteridgvile Correctional Centre, which is better suited for inmates with disabilities.

The Supreme Court has set down Friday 2 November to hear the State’s appeal, which is being opposed by Pistorius.
