There was an article on the Wright show today about childless people having to work over christmas while parents spend time with the kids....why? do childless people not have families too

to be fair, if they have young children I think it's about priority and the kids must come first IMO.

I disagree  but we'll leave it at that

If I had no children I would gladly swop with people that had young children...my husband was rarely at home on Christmas day, he had to work and it spoiled the girls day...but that's just me and how I look at Christmas.

My dad only had Christmas Day off once every 7 years ( that's how nursing was in those days ) so I know what's it's like , and volunteering is one thing , but I don't  agree with people without kids HAVING to swap ....

ok at Christmas.

But did you not have other family that you could go to?

why would I, the kids wanted to be home with their presents. I've seen us getting up at 4.45 so they could open their presents before he went to work. As I say, it's just me and I always think of Christmas for the children, I'm not religious and to me now it's another day.

I thought the article said they were * having * to work .......but yes , my daughter and her colleagues try to work it out between them .....working half a day on Christmas, or Boxing Day , so everyone gets a fair crack of the whip .....
