Dr Sandra Jansen is giving a talk on the study she did on Maryport accents and how we are losing it (about bloody time)  I'd really like to be there to support her, although she said she will give me a quick run down when we meet up saturday night and she's coming to owen jones with us on Sunday too

Oh right

Baz these are people that have no choice but to flee...I doubt very much they are terrorists. They are dying in their hundreds every week to escape,,,I just find it tragic. We the west destabilised these countries...we should at least help

I agree we destabilised it , and that we should help .....but I also have a bad vibe that a lot of those * fleeing* seem to be single men ....

Most of those at Calais seem to be young men.....and most of those I've seen interviewed are .....but I agree there are quite a lot of families on the boats etc.

I don't...but we use the same phrases and you know both our voices  Down South people assume we are geordie...a bit like me I suppose, I can't tell the difference for Norfolk and Cornish

when I was in Northumberland - I heard a slightly different accent sort of Geordie in Berwick -may have been  a maryport accent

oh those from Calais maybe...I'm on about the Syrian ones

But a lot of those are from Syria too .....I think  it is a very difficult situation , and if people can prove refugee status then I think we should welcome them with open arms ....but not economic migrants ....or worse

a lot are fleeing from Isis, we have to help whatever. Terrorists are already here and the situation made worse by our governments over the last 25 years
