My dad actually wasn't bitter at all .....he always wanted to go back to Japan....he just said they were soldiers like him ....and what they did was just the way it was ....
My granddad was in the trenches...... I think h lied about his age to be honest, I don't think he was actually old enough to sign up
If I remember rightly ......it's been a few years since I looked at it....the train backed over him and he was decapitated
It was her leg...I think loss of blood and shock, she lived for a few hours. they carried her home and she deteriorated that night
aww today she would have survived
I know a lot of veterans don't like to talk about/hide what happened. Do you think this was the case?
yes - its wasn't like today -stiff upper lip and all that and TBH refreshing compared to everybody social networking these days
My granddad was stiff upper lip, wouldn't talk about it..but made him a bitter old man

they said she was...but the family always denied it as there was no need. it was common practice to take a short cut to get to the shore Ros, I have done the same walk many times when I was young myself and never thought about the coal wagons rolling in.
