We've got the same sort of thing, riverside appartments. There was rumours that they had rats too at one time, but it sort of was glossed over and as far as I know everything's ok now  

 

 

Rats are abundant near docks...and we have a river that runs the other side of them...so no shortage of rats 

 

 

front of the houses and the river Ellen running into the sea..this is the way I walk into town on nice days

yes I coudn't sleep in PJ bottoms-wear my big fluffy DG until I go to bed in winter
