don't recall my mother borrowing to be honest...she was always a saver though and extremely good with money. Good job, my dad would have spent it on booze and horses 

My mam was good with money too, just every now and again things got tough for us and we had to resort to loans

yes and no ....sort a loan company ...think it's still in existence ......sometimes called the tally man

not knocking it Baz...I have a phobia about not affording to pay back....so I avoid loans or hp on anything  If I can't save for it I would rather do without for peace on mind  I know paranoid or what
