The text size in the Google search box has suddenly increased this afternoon.
I changed nothing but it is not big, black and ugly.
Clicking on drop-down View menu does not affect it.
I use IE8. On Mozilla and Chrome the text size remains as it was.
Can anybody tell me why it has changed itself without asking me?
Better still, can anybody tell me how to put it back to the way it was?

On the main Google page there is a drop down menu labelled tools under options you can change the font and the size of the letters, have a look to see what yours is set at.

squiggle - thanks very much but after clicking on Google I cannot find a drop-down menu labelled "tools". Nor can I find one that says "options"
Perhaps I am stupidly on the wrong page.

Hi Brisket is this the toolbar. or the main google webpage If it the toolbar rightclick where it says google go to options and try restore deafaults. If it is the webpage hold ctrl and use the mouse wheel to change to a size you like.
I just discovered that if you hold down ctrl and B at the same time it shakes the screen about and simulates a Hollywood version of taking drugs.

Brisket, just gone onto IE8 myself (Iuse FF most of the time now) and it looks ok/ the same to me. Unless, as you say, we are looking at different aspects Have you tried clicking F5 once you're in the box?

You could use system restore to restore the computer to how it was before the change, that should work Click the start button and go to all programs >Accessories>system tools>system restore
Then choose a restore point from before the problem began that should sort it if it doesn't I don't know what else you can do.
I have tried system restore neil
But it has not helped.
I see, though that by Googling, I am not the only one who has this problem. Many don't like it.
I'll leave it for now and investigate after the weekend.

Well if that didn't work I don't know what will system restore fixes most things like that. Obvious question but are you sure you went back far enough. Good luck in getting it sorted anyway. I can't think of anything else.
