Never actually watched it, only saw the you tube video of Queen's performance.....wouldn't call them boring though.
One of the biggest named groups I think is boring is U2....which I'll probs be slated for, but guess we all have our own music palate 
I may be wrong, but I think he was saying that the music and performances were so good that everything that came after was mediocre by comparison.
Or everything for a few years after just tried to copy, so was a bit boring because there was nothing new or different.

I tend not to watch these collectives...admire the sentiment behind them but annoys me when celebrities start jumping on the band wagon so to speak...I'm the same with award ceremonies....just a bunch of over paid folk slapping each other on the back.
I'd respect them more if they paid more taxes & the government/s spent the public purse more wisely so that charities etc weren't needed.
