I had a tartan school bag with the band on the front
What I couldn't of flogged that for in the play ground ,

My sister went to a 70's show recently and Les McKeownwas on the bill, it wasn't a big event,
She rang me the next day to say all her dreams of him sweeping her off her feet had been dashed when he got the same bus home as her, and never had a tooth in his head, He even asked her for a fag.

What i remember about Disco 45 was the cheap paper it was printed on, how the mag was a different colour every issue - which I think was every two weeks although I could be wrong - and the crossword.
It was a real down market version of Smash Hits but we loved having the words so we could sing along!

Also hiya veg n rzb! If we talk about teenage years then Sounds and Melody Maker!

Yes I remember Sounds Joe,
One of my first jobs when leaving school was as a messenger on Melody Maker, it was just 2 weeks cover for the full time guy, It was late 70's , The Damned were very popular at the time,
Is it still going ? They were always battling against the NME in those days,

Oh no! Thats awful! Did he enjoy the match
Yeah he always does! He went to about 6-8 games last season and it's always a nightmare with the coaches as they either get him there in the early hours of the morning or he has to get across Manchester in half an hour on match day - and you know that's not happening!

I loved Les McKeown then when I was about 18 he used to bring his Range Rover to a garage I worked in. He was really nice to me when he heard I was a fan, brought me pics and little bits and bobs.

He really hasn't aged well though and I think he's had bad money problems like they all had. I seem to remember he lived in Essex Road in Islington

I also remember some pop magazines used to give out free floppy vinyl records sometimes - usually in luminous colours.
I remember having some of them free floopy records, they wouldn't  always play on our turntable, to get them to play you had to place a coin on the disc to weight it down, One I had was an interview with Marc Bolan.
