that's because my parents/your generation (not saying your old) didn't have this sense of entitlement like they do today where they want it, and they want it now.  Mammy also wouldn't get into hock for anything - it was second hand furniture till they could afford new and if they couldn't afford it, they went without and clothes were make do and mend   to be honest - I kinda grew up with that mentality but this generation can't cope
