They're just jealous.

I sit up in bed to read, or with my laptop on my knee, so those lights would annoy me.

if you wrap your clothes in tissue paper, they don't crease as much so I'm presuming she's got wrapping paper for a similar thing????

no idea - perhaps she is using it to wrap up toiletries and complementary dressing gowns
