my niece had a hammy and she thought it was dead.  They had an extraordinarily cold day and didn't think it might be hibernating.  Anyhoo after the warmth from the fire came back, it pushed up the lid of the cardboard box they were going to bury it in   poor thing died (for real) a few months later of heart attack

No, it's okay, it hasn't happened to me. I was just sad that some owners don't realise that they need to be kept warm.

  I'm not against women have a little nip and tuck here and there to keep ageing at bay, but I can't stand the ones who do it and look like tarts - have no time for them

No, it's okay, it hasn't happened to me. I was just sad that some owners don't realise that they need to be kept warm.

Not overly warm,certainly not desert temps,just that they can't be too cold.They would in the wild burrow deep to stay cool in hot desert days.That is if there were any Syrian hamsters in the wild,all our pet Syrian  hammies are from 20 or so animals saved in the 1920's from extinction.Other hammy species still live in the wild,Russian/chinese dwarf etc.

I wish people would research particular animals before they decide to buy one.

I remember your posts about the things people ought to know about rabbits, before buying one as a pet. Most people don't have a clue what they are doing, and it's the animals which suffer.
