You don't need to be in the country to have problems with mobile phone signals. My son can't get a signal in his GF's flat and she lives in a town.

I would worry about not having a phone signal... in case there was a family emergency... but could love without the other things for a night or two..
we're slaves to our phones - we lived without them before the 80s and there's no reason we can't for a couple of days, live without them now. Besides, in emergencies I bet they have a land line
